The Swansea City Supporters’ Trust welcomes the news announced by the club earlier today HERE that Alan Sheehan has been appointed as our permanent Head Coach on a three-year contract, and we offer him our sincere congratulations.
His coaching and backroom team will be agreed and announced in due course.
The Trust Board believe Alan fully deserves this opportunity to lead the team on a permanent basis. Under his guidance, the club has secured 23 points from the past 12 games and established itself as one of the form teams in the Championship.
That impressive turnaround has not only improved results on the pitch, but also helped lift the overall mood around the club, with attendances rising and a noticeably more positive atmosphere among supporters.
Importantly, this decision brings much-needed stability after months of uncertainty surrounding the managerial position. With this clarity in place, the focus must now turn to building on the strong foundations Alan has laid to enable us to keep pushing up the league table next season.
To sustain this positive momentum, it is essential that the club fully supports Alan in the forthcoming transfer window to retain core contributors and bring in the right players to fit his style of play.
The Trust have held positive discussions in recent weeks with CEO Tom Gorringe and senior members of the club’s scouting and academy teams.
We are encouraged by the efforts being made behind the scenes to strengthen player identification and recruitment, which we believe has improved in recent times.
However, we fully recognise that promises made must be delivered on if the club is to truly build trust from supporters. Appointing Alan is a positive start, and we hope that the early positive signs of intent from Brett Cravatt and Jason Cohen, as well as the new senior leadership team of Tom Gorringe and Richard Montague, will lead to success in the summer transfer window and for the season ahead.
Once again, we look forward to seeing the Jack Army turn out in force for our final game against Oxford Utd on Saturday both to welcome Alan as our permanent head coach and to help the team end the season on a high.
