I’m not actually sure anyone really cares about what the discussion is about any more but none of Swansea City, Southampton and Russell Martin can move on properly without this matter of compensation is resolved. On the day that the Premier League fixtures were released it looks for all money as if...

How much of the difference is being eaten away by us still paying for his and staff salaries.

Add to that any legal costs being incurred?

I think nobody is surprised by what's going on. Since thier ownership we've been going backwards and a chance to reset this summer being thwarted by the lemons who think they know best.

There was me thinking we would have learnt from the Cooper experience.

Martin will have the excuse that he didn't have a proper pre season if results go badly for him down there. Likes an excuse does our Russ.

My take on this is that we have the upper hand. Until we have a replacement coach, coaching team lined up & player deals that work for us why should we hand an advantage to Southampton by making life easy for them & handing Martin over to them.

I sincerely hope there is a lot of work going on in the background and for once we come out of this type of situation smiling after lessons learnt from previous failures

My take on it is that our fantastic owners are either:

A. Sunning it up on holiday
B. In disagreement with each other
C. Sorting out ownership issues - clearly more important to them than the immediate interests of the club.
D. Fecking clueless.
E. All of the above.

Try telling that to those who think highly of our lovely owners and who try to shout down any dissenters. They can't see the wood for the trees, Its fuking pathetic.

Although it looks like they've come up against another lot of owners similarly mined at Southampton

Maybe that's why it's being dragged out....because our owners are struggling on a replacement.

Imagine the Martin move to Soton falls through and we are then left with a mess to sort out with pre season training fast approaching!?
My concern is that we find ourself in these situations time and time again and then excuses made with promises of not being in these situations again.......yet here we are!

Sometimes though you can’t help it if things fall through, I’m sure the blame lies with Southampton on this one though, seeing as their owners said last week they’d have a manager in place by the end of June, so in their minds they have a date sorted to announce Martin.

For such 'resourceful, savvy and detail orientated' men, they've fvked up here.

A few additional words in the contract / release clause would have removed all ambiguity:

'Release clause for championship clubs: £...'
'Release clause a Premier league / CLUBS IN RECEIPT OF PARACHUTE PAYMENTS: £...'

Clowns.
