Being reported on twitter that he drove 3 hours to Swansea only to be told the deal was off. I wonder if this was the transfer Stuart James was referring too?
Shocking if true. Don't expect him to come running in January if our new signings go tits up. This end of transfer window panic is an utter farce.

To be honest I could see this one happening January if Grimes leaves, he & Brentford would have known the move was dependent on Grimes leaving, even Liverpool loaned us Williams after us shafting them on Nat Phillips last minute last season.

I'm guessing it was preparing for Grimes going and making sure Fosu had the whole international break to settle in. We can loan players again once we're 7 days past the end of the transfer window (Gyokeres and Palmer were signed in October last year for example), so no panic if we do need someone later.

Again I'm guessing, but presumably we don't have the funds available to afford Fosu without selling someone else. That would probably have been communicated to Brentford and Fosu's agent, so shouldn't be any hard feelings.

Absolutely gutted not to land Fosu.
A regular member of a successful team.
He will be snapped up by someone else in January

The Summer transfer window last season closed on Oct 16th 2020 (the season started late) because of COVID-19. You can’t loan players when the window is closed. You have just made up a rule or maybe thinking of the rule connected to emergency loans?

I think it was the Covid thing that threw me and I found a list of rules about loans, but I think it was related to emergency loans as you say, apologies.

Going back to the criticism of having Fosu on his way here before backing out and that being us panicking, I feel completely the opposite, especially after Martin's interview. It was the club having a replacement on his way in case the decision was made to sell Grimes. When it was decided not to, that deal was cancelled. I'd say that's great work on the club's part and the complete opposite of panic.

Fosu himself rubbished the claims that he was already here or on his way here on social media, so that was a load of bollox.
