Followed my father who worked in the old Steel Company of Wales business , then I joined British Steel as then known .

Now another proud and historic employer is on the way out , file alongside Fords , Sony and Coal Mining , lost to the area .

Many will cheer at Abbeys demise , I will not .

There’s never been a proper industrial policy in the UK. They let it be sold to a foreign company while spouting the usual bullshit that the UK is open for business. Couldn’t give a toss whether British Airways is owned by Tatta but Steel and Energy are strategic industries. Time for the Tories who enjoy draping themselves in the Union Jack to put the country first before money.

Read or heard somrthing along the lines of PM Sunaks wife having major shares in TATA .

How convenient , money being pumped into the Plant , jobs being cut big time .

My grandfather worked in the Abbey (as it many men in our area), my uncles worked there as did my cousins and many of my mates. My old man worked in Fords. Worrying times ahead.

I think they should reconsider their decision IMO.. Indian leaders I believe, the Sikh's and Hindu's are British allies, and have been for centuries, people don't deserve to lose their livelihoods, I know a few who work in the steel works and sub contractors.. but Port Talbot has been rife with toxic fumes that have affected the people in the area for decade's.. but the people are marching, local councillor needs the opinion from people who live in the area, because it'll have an effect on their wellbeing

Dar get on the blower to Mr Crowley and Mrs Williams.. come to an amicable decision about the whole situation.. you live in the area, you're a former employee who has been effected by it all, there's always a solution to be met

Rishi Sunak can influence the decision, he's prime minister, he's Indian by heritage, he should come to a resolution, but the people need to be heard, because this decision will affect them.. he should see that the works should be decided by workers, residents, and the company directors
