A true sliding door moment, you're right. But I do find it funny that people tug their forelocks to tits like JRM yet think Starmer is some "elite", the lad grew up in a similar background to most of us!
I'm not interested in Corbyn, he's another malfunction of the Labour party altogether. Some like John Smith Labour need, massive shame he passed away at the time he did.

Doesn't matter, the party is in disarray all their greed, corruption and lies have nailed them to the cross, Bungle gone, the beyond useless Truss gone, both thrown out if truth be known and now there's a growing number that would like to Smiling boy Rishi floating off down the Thames as well.

Pity all we got is Starmer coming up on the rails, I've little faith in him, he looks to me like he doesn't know what day of the week it is half the time, where are the true working mans Labour gone, instead of this lot of new age politicians with wealth beyond their means who have never had to struggle to pay their bills.
I agree with you to an extent about Starmer but this Labour are taking a pragmatic approach regarding voter targeting and there is no doubt that it is working as they've had a 20 point lead in the polls for well over a year. Admittedly it has been helped by a constant supply of Tory own goals but the infighting that had previously been prevalent in the Labour ranks has been pretty much eliminated and while this won't have pleased various factions, something had to change if they were ever going to become electable again. Whether or not Starmer is everyone's choice as Labour leader is broadly irrelevant but he has galvanised the party into a strong and electable unit capable of ousting the current Tory conveyor belt of clowns and disgraceful subhumans and, right or wrong, at the moment, that is my personal priority and, I believe, the priority of a large proportion of the electorate. Electoral reform would be my long term aim but the first step is have a party in power who will at least consider it.

I also agree with Wayne about having a PM with a history of public service rather than one who played an active role in the 2008 financial crash and more recently was filmed proudly announcing that he had diverted funding from deprived areas to Tunbridge Wells. 🤮🤮🤮

I don't like Starmer, heard him speak numerous times at question time in the commons on the Tele, for someone who was a barrister who had to defend and prosecute people, he comes across as very lame, how many times did he have Bungle Truss and Smiley on the hook, but then failed to set the hook, wet lettuce.

He literally nailed Johnson by quoting the ministerial code to him in PMQs.

He doesn't need to nail anyone during PMQs, it's just panto. Policy delivery is what we need

To be fair that's a difficult ask until he gets elected.

What absolute nonsense, you have called what I said wrong, so the onus is on you to say why I am wrong.

I think you'll find it's the person expressing an opinion who is expected to be able to back it up.

Please point me in the right direction of any forum etiquette of such nonsense I would suggest that is just made up by you. So I stand by what I said 'Not happening'.

It's OK to admit you just want to blame the WG because it's run by Labour and that you have nothing at all to back up your opinion. If you want me to say why you're wrong, just read this thread, notably Lisa's contributions.

Exactly, that's why I responded to below.

"WayneK wrote, I'd much rather a wet lettuce who delivers substantial policy."
Not for me to speak for Wayne of course but I think he’s anticipating an incoming Starmer Labour government to be a serious government as opposed to the never ending shitshow of populist, willy waving infighting we’ve seen from the Tories thus last 15 years while the country has been allowed to go to shit with no one actually bothering to do any governing.
