Mark Cavendish wins his 35th stage to stand alone as the outright record holder.

Superb effort after everything he has been through, such a fantastic competitor who wears his heart on his sleeve. Sporting history being made today.

Truly amazing achievement, especially at age 39. There seemed to be many occasions over the past few years where his career seemed over.

One of greatest ever to get on a bike.

I have my annual Le Tour trip this weekend. Spending Friday in Paris and then moving on to Troyes for the weekend. Fantastique!

It’s Col du Tourmalet this afternoon, one of the most iconic climbs in the history of the tour and at nearly 7,000 feat it deserves its status.

If you are at a loose end in the early part of the afternoon then it will be worth a watch, it will be an amazing demonstration of human effort. I shall be riding from the comfort of my sofa.

Eurosport coverage is better than ITV4.

And that’s a wrap. Bike parked for the last time as Cavendish finishes the final stage of his final grand tour. Thirty five stage wins and one green jersey, one of our finest.
