It reminded me of the Martinez teams that played in the championship, especially the first half.. the 2nd half we were a bit like Cooperball, I thought we could've kept it better than we did, but we showed grittiness, and Laird is in the mould of Kyle Walker, his pace gets him out of a lot of trouble.. hopefully we can learn to take the game away from the opposition by using possession like a defensive tool like Rodgers did superbly well in his time in the PL.. get on the blower Russ..

I actually thought we kept it reasonably well 2nd half when under pressure and didn’t just boot it Cooperball style straight back to them every time, which did more than once break down their rhythm and stopped wave after wave as we’d have seen last season. Long way from perfect but I thought that part was a step up and frustrated them

Thought we played better second half than first. We were under a lot less pressure at least.

We weren't getting turned over in our own half with the short passes out facing our own goal in the second half. We were losing the ball further up the field instead which forced them to try and break us down from deeper. Needs must. It worked.

Quite happy with that. If you're going to lose possession might as well do it 20 yards into the opposing half rather than 20 yards into yours.

Benda needs to cut out the kicking out straight to the opposition, twice tonight and it's going to cost us in games.

Personally I see Benda's kicking as a strength back there.

One of his first time clearances was a worldy which went straight to their keeper but bisected their two defenders.

The players won that game tonight. Which is good to see.

The inside ball was played further up the pitch and we hit both wings much harder.

Fulton was good at finding the wing, proper player is Jay, welcome back.

If only Leon Britton could be 23 again. He would be immense in this team. Well, he's always been immense.

We were very dreary in the championship under Martinez. Didnt we draw 8 games in a row?

5am…you’re worse than me mun!

How lovely is to wake up not only with a win but having been excited/thrilled/scared shitless

This is what sport should be. Adrenaline rush white knuckle terror.

5am everyday. Even weekends. As I get older every second becomes more valuable so I dont want to spend it asleep. That was a critical result last night. We have 4 points from 4 games with the bones of our squad. To be honest Im quite excited for the season now.

Funny enough I was pondering the passing of time myself. Too easy to think our current circumstances are indefinite. I never consider getting ill and I’d hate to look back and think I wish I had made more of my time when I was strong and fit. I think Ill change my alarm to 5 am too. Should please Mrs M.

More enjoyment on the way on the football front too I hope.

So much better! Impressed with all of them tonight and plenty to improve on. Laird looks a player, and Piroe looks to be very shrewd business.

I saw us play at Blackburn, Reading and the two home games. Gutted to miss last night.
Listening to commentary last night, thought in the first half we were in for a hammering until Piroe scored.
Brilliant win.
I have to say I have seen so many positives so far this season.
Feeling very optimistic
