Right let’s explain things, we’ve had one failed experiment the club are not going to go down that route again, every appointment is a risk but clever people try to minimise that risk, fingers burned and all that.
Agreed, a mid table championship team should be looking at safe pair of hands.

Klopp, anyone?

I think the kind of style Matos supposedly plays, high press and looking to attack is the right way to go. It’s a huge gamble though, bigger than Martin or Hellberg.

If he comes in, we’ll have to be patient and back him as fans.

Here we go, it wasn’t Hellberg , it wasn’t Martin and it won’t be Atmos…. in my opinion of course but there again what do I know.

Who are these clever people you speak of?

How many games did Toshack Monk and Martinez have between them before they were given jobs with us.

Well Monk turned out to be crap.

Toshack and Martinez was a long time ago now. Also, we weren't in the second tier at that point either.

Genuine question, how many totally inexperienced managers have come into the Championship and been a success?

Yip, let’s give him a go, seems he has all the credentials that some of you believe is necessary.

Manages a Foreign team ….tick

Has a Foreign name ….tick

Has the required experience….er…go on en…tick

Everything you need to manage a side in arguably Europes fifth biggest league, what have we got to lose …give him the job.

He's a very underrated manager, mostly because some dismiss him due to his struggles in the MLS and being sacked by Young Boys.

MLS is a weird animal that I don't put much stock in and his Young Boys sacking had him top of the league but getting rolled out of the Europa League by Sporting Lisbon. Prior to this he was a genuine success with YB and had previously done very well with Basel.

Google AI's estimation of his style of play:

Raphaël Wicky's style of play is aggressive and attacking, characterized by a high defensive line, plenty of crosses, and forward passes. His teams are built on passion, a strong work ethic, and constant support for one another. While his tactics have varied between formations like the 3-4-3, 3-4-2-1, and 4-4-2 diamond, he consistently emphasizes a high-energy, front-foot approach.

Tactical characteristics
  • High defensive line: Wicky employs a high defensive line to press the opposition and keep the team compact.
  • Attacking focus: He prefers an aggressive, attack-minded style with plenty of crosses into the box and forward passes.
  • Formation flexibility: While formations like the 3-4-3, 3-4-2-1, and 4-4-2 diamond have been used, he adapts the system to suit his players and can switch between them.
  • Emphasis on principles: He focuses on teaching core tactical principles to his players so they can adapt to different formations and styles, rather than just a rigid system.

Well boys and girls I’ve enjoyed making a small contribution to a fifty six pager on a manager we were never going to get but it’s time to call it a day…..patience Timothy patience…or is it Language Timothy…all will be revealed soon enough, night night don’t let the edders bite.

Eric Ramsay has done well with Minnesota his two seasons there. Tactics are extremely un-Swansea like though.

Maybe I'm clutching at straws or just desperate to find positive in another manager because of all this fiasco with Hellberg but the truth is... The team isn't that far off from being a good team. We just need a coach that doesn't think like Sheehan... Playing it backwards.. Bad substitutes and not knowing his team. I know it not as simple as making some tweeks. But it might be the case we just need someone who has this mindset and not someone who is gonna change everything about us. Who knows, Matos might be something we are looking for and not someone who comes in without a high profile like Hellberg and does his thing.
