• Thank you very much | Diolch yn fawr

All at JackArmy.net would like to thank everyone who has played a part on this site over the past 25 years whether that is through writing, contributing, moderating, posting or just visting and reading.

Without any of you the work that has gone into the site would have been pointless and we will always be proud that we built, generated and managed a community that was such a big part of the Swansea City supporting life for so long.

It has been a pleasure to bring to you the site for so long but the time is now right to turn the lights out for the last time but we do it both with a heavy heart and a sense of pride driven by the so many messages received since we announced the closure.

The site will remain here for a period until we archive and mothball it for the last time later this summer but all aspects are in a read only format.

Thank you though for all the memories

    Phil Sumbler

I’m happy for the amazing fans. They deserve this win. The wicket wasn’t the best, but it is nice to be able to see them win this test.

Whoever came up with that pitch for the highest profile test match of the year should and probably will be sacked.

Also Uppa England.

Had a chuckle watching Steve Smith's post match interview pitch side, moaning that the wicket "wasn't the greatest". Well it was prepared exactly the way you, and the Australian coaches wanted it. To bleat when the result didn't go as planned is typical of Smith and his cronies...

England again papering over the cracks after losing the Ashes again!

100% papering over the cracks.

This wicket suited a bazball style all in approach because it moved so much you can get a scratchy 30 or 40.

I don’t take any joy in this win. The series is over it just stops the 5 zip embarrassment

Yeah but you’re a proper miserable twat at the best of times. :sneaky:

This did make me laugh though.

“England didn’t so much reach the target as crash a clown car into it.. Is this Test cricket? Is it real? Is it worth anyone’s time?”

The lack of batting technique on both sides against any difficulty is shocking and dispiriting. England got lucky this time, missing the edges, just as Oz did in Perth. It’s short changing everyone, and will kill test cricket, or cricket, as it should be called.

Then again, do I want to go back in time and watch Alistair Cook and Jonny Trott? No thanks.

An eye watering loss of £5m for Cricket Australia through ticket refunds and lost retail.

They should be made to play one day games in the remaining 3 days

That’s how limited overs cricket was born. Almost. An ashes test at the MCG was ruined by the weather so they scrapped the Test match and agreed to play a limited overs game instead. And thus, the first ever one day international cricket match was played.

And here it is. The England total not helped by a particularly stubborn 8 runs from 37 balls by a certain Geoffrey Boycott.
