The English were smashed and embarrassed, Australia had a reserve bowling line up for nearly all the series (Hazelwood, Cummins and Lyon with well over 1000 test wickets between them were out injured for most of the series), star batsman Smith missed a test match because of illness, England won the toss 4 times out of 5 and Australia were thought to have their weakest team for years yet England lost 4-1.
England cricket is hyped like most England teams, Bazball has failed as England went into the series 7th in the World which is bad as hardly anyone plays cricket, there again I remember England being officially ranked the worse team in the World, worse than Zimbabwe at the time.

England and Wales combined but universally called England, no thank you, Wales should be independent of England in cricket just like other sports.

England and Wales are founding members of the ICC and have been together since. The team name has been shortened but it still remains England and Wales , I suppose just like the West Indies are more than one country. I am Welsh through and through but accept the fact that the England cricket team is both England and Wales, it’s not going to change anytime soon so why don’t you support the fact that it’s Wales involved and let it go.

Yes they have, but where are they now? I’m sure the likes of Robert Croft and Simon Jones were more than happy playing against major cricketing teams and not against the lesser teams.

I agree, and I'm not at Trampie Warp 10, but if it's the E&W cricket board, the team should be called England and Wales. It used to be MCC on tours so it's not an insurmountable historical leap to change it. They wouldn't even entertain the idea of course, as it's just lip service now, as shown by all the St Gearge Cross, GSTK and Jerusalem arseholery every day at the tests. That's why much as I like to see the Oz brought down a peg (loved 81 and 05), I couldn't really care less if Ingurrland lose. Exceptionalist Bazball nonsense is simply an extension of the football and rugby team, 'we're so special' in my jaundiced view. Maybe I'm Trampie Warp 8 or 9

I find the whole debate about the name understandable but tedious. I fully accept that I’m a hypocrite in this, I grew up and was brought up watching and supporting England at cricket while at the same time wanting England to lose at pretty much everything else. That’s stuck with me and I’m 54 now so it’s not gonna change.
