And who can say he’s wrong in principle? In practice he was a right cock, obvs. It’s old, when the Russbot ruined Southampton.

I’ve said several times now over the last few years that people are losing all concept of Association Football and don’t understand the objective of the game anymore.
Whilst just about everybody would like to see fluent passing football like Brazil in the 70’s it’s just not possible.
I’ve seen so many posts on tinternet today complaining because Norwich had more shots than us but two of ours compared to one of theirs went in.
I didn’t think yesterday’s game was brilliant but I didn’t think it was shit either but we won and I’m really really missing something.

Oh and I’d dearly love to put a post on here which is one of the most mental posts I’ve ever seen on any Swans forum in 25 years but Phil would probably shout at me ……… again!

I’ll do a polite post for you

Football is a simple game, do the basics well and play as a team
Also play to your players strengths and don’t over complicate things

Uncle Albert👍

Spot on in he? especially 3.15 to 3.35.......just like good sex, its what the fans like.

I"ll get my coat......

To back Darran's point up, look at this complete word salad I've just seen on the Beeb from Man City's Bernardo Silva:

I would say we played quite well with the ball. Our offensive concepts were quite good. Even if we didn't score we had chances. We made them defend deep and they struggled in some moments. On the other side of the game we were really bad defensively. Our pressing was really bad, we arrived two seconds late to every duel. That was the feeling even though our offensive concepts were quite good, but if the pressing is not good you allow the game to be a transitional game. When our pressing is not good we do not play well.

Bear in mind that this came after a 1-0 defeat to Villa. Pep Guardiola may be a brilliant manager when he has more money to spend than everyone else, but this is the kind of nonsense his players are indoctrinated in.

I agree 100% with Sam on cutting your cloth accordingly, it's insanity to keep stubbornly asking players to do the same thing when it's clearly failing every week. Like Martin, Williams, and coaches of that ilk.

However, he talks of entertainment, which I find ironic given that he, Pulis, Warnock and a few others I could mention spent their careers serving up some of the most dreadful to watch football this country's ever seen - horrible, cynical shithouse tactics designed to spoil a match. They are the other end of the scale. They don't even try to play to begin with.

Yes. Football is, and should be, a simple game.

Aim to win the game by scoring more than the opposition. Defend solidly to prevent or minimize the opposition scoring against you.

In so doing :

Doesn't need to be Brazil 1970 of course

Cut out the tippy tappy sideways walking football crap. One incisive through ball versus 40 passes sideways, back, sideways.

Move the ball forward with pace, using box to box midfield and wide play

And encourage players to actually beat a man through pace and/or dribbling.

Nice to have a solid No 9 to hold up play and smash in/ head goals.

Get players when going forward, to create movement off the ball, either as diversion or to receive it.

And not everything has to be on the grass...a well delivered ball through the air can be a thing of beauty

Finally.. some passion and commitment, pressing hard etc. ..this also creates a great crowd response

Yes, but what about the XG of your offensive concepts and the statistical effectiveness of your transitional press?

The irony is that most of the managers who say they play attractive, fluent and exciting football, don't!

Yep. I just want to see a culture change of a priority to get forward at pace more often, not hoof ball as such, but at least counter attack more often, shoot more often...and nothing wrong also with route one at times. Please bury tippy tappy, though it's not happening soon enough for me. Btw, the long throws on MoD yesterday were refreshing. And productive. Where's our new Andy Legg ? ..you don't need a big guy, someone who can exocet it in with technique and speed.

God, I sound like a dinosaur 🦖 but I do miss the trying of direct attacking football, even if it doesn't always come off ..and I'm also not bothered if it's not Brazil 1970 😊
