And there we have the conclusion to this season. Rest all the Welsh players for the World Cup Play-offs, get some youngsters in the side. Put Ronald on the next boat to Rio. Send Burgess on a slow boat to Australia.

It is all about preparing for next season.
we don't have the squad to play the high intensity style that Matos says he wants.
Even allowing for a pre season of conditioning and fitness we have many players I believe can't make the step up.
money availability will be the driver but we need a clear out and more experience to help develop the more enthusiastic players

Isn't that a Duran Duran Song? Rio? They had a boat as well! 😂

I just don't see the clear out many want or see. Maybe I'll be completely wrong. But Ronald seems a player Matos likes. Burgess is only 1 year into his contract and on bigger wages. Not sure who really gets the push out?

Its a complete pipe dream that we'll be able to shift Burgess. He's got 2 years left on a very good wage and is 31yrs old.

There is absolutely 0 incentive for him to leave unless a club as stupid as us offers him the exact same terms.

Agree what we need and what see get will be different.
Without a good few leaving there won't be the.finance available to build on the work Matos has started.
I just hope his enthusiasm and personality isn't the only thing that has started the turnaround.

It’s a real opportunity now, to practice. We play three top sides in Boro, Cov and Soton at home. It’s a yardstick. We need to use all our players that we want to, expect to, or can, keep and find a playing style that hurts those teams. Plus teams away that are below us/on par in QPR, SU, Delias, and then Leicester battling for their lives. A chance to really sort out this away nonsense and stop sleepwalking to defeat game after game.

This is basically a golden gift period to get ahead and not wait for pre season. Or we can just carry on as we are, using the same players in the same way, and find out nothing new, which is what I think we’ll do. I reckon two more wins, one home (Charlton), one away (QPR), and maybe three draws against the top boys at home and three defeats in last night’s stylee in the other three away games.

Can’t play this way for more than an hour, so many similar performances during Matos reign starting with WBA.
Last night was almost identical to Tuesdays performance, we go in throwing Windmills only for the other boxer to bide his time waiting for the inevitable blow out.

Govea is fit, he should have minutes. In his appearances a few years ago he was better than Bianchini. Nunes isn't ours or good so give minutes to.

I think we have most of the tools for a play off push already. It’s the mental side of the team that concerns me. They need to maintain concentration, purpose and intensity for 90 minutes.

Hopefully a full intensive period with Matos (who I really like) will sort that out. For example, first thing I’d be telling Potnik is, when you shoot, never think, never place it, just whang it with everything you’ve got. If the keeper’s stupid enough to get in the way, more fool him.

I agree about the mental side, but it's very difficult to change.
So many times last night I was shouting at the TV through frustration, even our good moves and passes were seconds slow.
The only way I can describe it is that too many of our players just want to play a game and not enough to make things happen

This is an issue - we've been very good for 60 minutes and then crap for the rest in the majority of matos games. We'd be a real force if we could keep it up but it doesn't look like the bench adds much when it comes on

It's no coincidence we struggle against top half sides who have that extra quality we don't have. When we up the tempo our passing goes to pot and when pressed we just panic and either hoof it long or lose possession.

The defence is too slow and indecisive also disorganised at set peices. I personally would only keep Tymon if we want to progress.

I would play one from Stemenic, Fulton and Franco from this point of the season.

We have too many similar lightweight players in the squad offering very little creativity, physicality and goals. Eom, Ronald, Nunes, Widell, Cooper, Cullen and Inoussa are just not stepping up with any consistency.

In an ideal world I would build a team around Vigs, Tymon, Galbraith and Vip but the likelihood is maybe two of them will be sold.

Last night was disappointing to say the least. If the ref had given that stone wall penalty when Franco got flattened it might have turned out very differently. (Assuming we scored the penalty). You could see on numerous occasions that our players were getting frustrated by many of the decisions against us. How come Yalcouye got booked for his first foul, which he pointed out to the ref, and yet their players got away with blatant fouling and kicking the ball away on our free kicks all night.
We let it get to us and Wrexham made the most of it. Two mistakes by Burgess relatively close together let them in for their first goal and the second was when we were chasing the game late on. We missed a few chances that on a different day might have gone in but that’s how it rolls sometimes.
From looking over our shoulder at possible relegation to being a win last night away from a shout at the playoffs, we’ve come a long way this season.
Onwards and upwards. I’ve been watching the Swans for over 60 years, we’ve had better times but we’ve also had much, much worse times.
Football, it’s a funny old game.
