The Season’s Conclusion

We’ve still only beaten two of the 10 teams above us, and one of those is only above us on goal difference. We’ve beaten 9 of the 13 teams below us. Not sure what that tells us. Nothing probably, other than we’re where we deserve to be . It would be nice to show we can beat the better teams, and I think that now should be our main goal…find a team selection and way of playing that can damage them.

Yeah, we're not a normal Championship team this season. Results have been far too predictable for a crazy league like ours.

Our away record against the top 17 teams this season is: P13 W1 D1 L11 F6 A21 GD-15 PTS4 which is pretty awful all things considered. One extra point if you include Charlton in 18th.

I would say we've actually played pretty well in quite a lot of those games - off the top of my head against Coventry, Hull, Wrexham, Derby, Birmingham & Stoke we probably deserved to get a point at least - but it's not translated into enough goals to get anything out of them.

We were absolutely mullered against Soton and got a point. Funny old game.

Simple analogy, fil your tank up with petrol, you can maximise the mileage by driving in Eco mode or burn through it in Sport.
Franco gets substituted not because he’s playing poorly he’s simply shattered, we need to find a middle ground.

My car has the two modes above, plus "Normal Drive mode" naturally. On the pitch use all three with the right players of course - in Vitor we must trust, he knows what's needed. But Funds for quality is another matter ...mmm. Selling our best players may be one way (the main way ??) but such a shame if that happens.

My car also has Trail mode, would have been great for a muddy Vetch but those days have gone thankfully

We are playing defensive aren't we? Our attack away from home is woeful, that is why there's constant pressure on the defence not to concede goals.

I'd say it's more of a combination of us not creating enough chances and not taking the ones we do when on top and controlling games away from home which is the issue rather than us being more pragmatic away from home.

8th lowest scorers in league, puts us the bottom quarter.
Our away record against the top 10 is shocking.

We need to face up to our problems and acknowledge them if we want to move forward and improve.

It's going to be a huge task to replace Vipotnik alone given the goals he has scored which is 38% of our league goals!
We need to sort out our creativity, supply and goal contribution from midfield and most notably our wingers who have been very disappointing with their numbers.

And then we need to look into strengthening RB and bring major competition in for Cabango and Burgess.

Forget being pragmatic, we need to be more honest about certain things if we really want to push on.
