Absolutely! The people on the till are like robots 'do you want a receipt' if you don't take one, you have just given up your consumer rights, if something is wrong, you will have a battle to get your money back.

I was in Iceland a few months back, spent a few quid, ' do you want a receipt?' I said to the girl, just out of curiosity if I get home, and the chicken is off, can I get my money back next week?, 'oh no, you will have to come back today, :) Biggest joke ever, Lidls have done it right, just scan the Lidl Plus app, and you get a digital receipt, same as morrisons More App, the others are lagging way behind,
Iceland is very expensive. The volcanoes are amazing though and their women are particularly beautiful.

Each to their own, I’m neither rich nor stupid but unless I’m buying a high value item I don’t ask for a receipt and say no if offered one.
If I was buying a TV or a hoover or something, receipt me right up. But I’ll take my chances on a £3 chicken from Tesco.

Ok, I will play.

So if you go to B&M. buy some Headphones for say £15, the cashier says 'Would you like a receipt'? You say no, go home, the headphones don't work, you chuck them in the bin, because you have no receipt, then you go back to B&M, buy another, cashier asks 'do you want a receipt'?

What do you say?

I’m not buying headphones from B and M. Sounds flippant I know but it’s true.

Irrelevant, it's a hypothetical situation. Answer the question please,
Ok. If I’d bought a pair of headphones which didn’t work and I went back and bought another pair of the same headphones from the same place I’d ask for a receipt. I’d also be reconsidering my headphones purchase choices.

OK I live in Canada now and am 13 years removed.
However, did the law change? If ANY shop sells you a defective item - they have to take it back regardless of whether you have a receipt. If goods are "not fit for purpose" surely there are still consumer protections?

The Law is still the same, the Gripe is, well my Gripe that some firms, will say would you like a receipt, regardless of what you have spent. They are doing this under the pretence of saving the planet, but removing your consumer rights at the same time. Absolute joke, How dare they!
