Worrying times.

You never know next season but Martin could catch Arteta syndrome and we'll be flying high at the top of the table.

I actually don't think that's a bad squad for this level. There are always doom and gloom threads as the season comes to an end regarding our playing staff. Add in a couple of decent loans and there's some potential there. I'd expect many of those nearing the end of their contracts to re-sign at some point.

What I will be concerned with, is if that squad and signings are given to Russell Martin over the summer.

Still quality there (although I think Piroe will almost certainly be sold off and I don't see Ogbeta coming back into the squad).

But lack of numbers worries me. Is there any in the u21s likely to be contribute more?

Dan Williams? Cotterill? Congreave? Abdulai? Mcfayden? Blythe?

I think Congreve could massively benefit from a season long loan somewhere and come back the season after having the same impact as Cooper has had.

Who's your dealer? 😂😂

Dan Williams is on loan at TNS. It's hardly good preparation for the Championship.

Didn’t Cabango have a loan with TNS

Cooper and Cabango may attract offers.

Could be the birth of Russ's dream team.

Cabango went when he'd just turned 18 and started playing CL qualifiers immediately. It was a brave alternative to a first full season of u23s football, probably tidy preparation for a rugged centre half to defend against grown men.

Williams has gone at 21, and has had to be pretty patient for minutes as they were well-stocked in his position. The first couple of times I watched him for them he was playing further forward than I'd ever seen him for us. A competitive step back from playing at Dundalk, TNS are far too strong for the Cymru Prem these days.

Beggars can't be choosers though, clubs hardly break down the door making offers to give our lads chances. It's not a fashionable badge on the training kit. "Just send them out on loan for a season" is tougher than it sounds, even for out best products (Roberts at Bristol Rovers & Boro, DJ at Shrewsbury). Ollie Cooper could have gone out a year before Newport took him, but no one above Cymru Prem level showed any interest. Lewis Webb was still training with us while registered at Aberystwyth because obviously they're not a full time professional football club. Congreve would benefit from a loan but would he benefit from being emergency cover at a National League side, hoping a teammate misses a run of games because he needs to cover some extra shifts at the day job, just to get a foot in the door?

We have to show faith in them first imo. Get McFayden, Josh Thomas, Congreve and maybe even Cotterill some minutes before the end of this bust of a season. Help them learn and get some eyes on them ahead of the summer.

Look, mun. You'll all just be miles happier joining me in accepting we're on a sliding trajectory back to where we started. The circle of life and all that. Embrace it. We'll be losing 4-0 home to Kidderminster again soon enough.

I very much fear you may be right, Monny. If nothing changes in the current ownership and management regime (and I won't even mention the excrement that is the Trust) I see relegation coming next season.
My question to all jacks is, what can we do about it? We need some ideas, some action. What about considering a campaign to boycott season ticket purchases and even matches from the season after next? We did it against Petty, would it have any effect on the yanks? I guess season ticket sales are around 10,000 x £300 = £3 million. Would losing some or most of that have any effect on them?
