My point was it devalues the award by someone handing it off to someone else, particularly The Donald, who will certainly take that as him ‘winning it’. He won’t hold back in saying that many times, I’m sure.

Totally misunderstanding who pays tariffs my friend. Tariffs are imposed on the company importing the goods that are likely (but not always) passed on to the consumer.
It is idiotic that Trump is raising prices for his own population through tariffs - why on earth would the UK and Europe do the same?
A better tactic is to raise the prices of goods that the USA need to import - but cannot source domestically, or through a diversified market.
So proud of Carney's Canada - by raising prices on Potash and Aluminium (among other commodities) Canada is literally crushing large parts of the USA industry and agriculture base, while boycotts of Tourism Bourbon and Wine (for example) are crippling the US industries in largely red states.
Anyone who buys American goods - or vacations in the States needs to give their head a shake.
