• Thank you very much | Diolch yn fawr

All at JackArmy.net would like to thank everyone who has played a part on this site over the past 25 years whether that is through writing, contributing, moderating, posting or just visting and reading.

Without any of you the work that has gone into the site would have been pointless and we will always be proud that we built, generated and managed a community that was such a big part of the Swansea City supporting life for so long.

It has been a pleasure to bring to you the site for so long but the time is now right to turn the lights out for the last time but we do it both with a heavy heart and a sense of pride driven by the so many messages received since we announced the closure.

The site will remain here for a period until we archive and mothball it for the last time later this summer but all aspects are in a read only format.

Thank you though for all the memories

Anybody know of good deals for van hire something like a transit.

Ideally only needed for 1 day, we are emptying my mums house after she passed away.

Swansea council only allow max 5m van

Sorry to hear about your mum fb. If you just want your house clearing, I used this chap Martin on . 07506 602571. He comes and has a look then quotes you a price. If there's stuff he can sell, price is lower. In my mum's case he emptied the house for free cos he could sell enough stuff to cover the cost of getting rid of the stuff he couldn't sell.
Different matter I guess if you need a van to move the contents somewhere.

Thanks for the info and sympathies. It's mainly rubbish that needs to go to the tip. We have work van but its like trying to get past the gestapo to take any company owned vehicle in even if no sign writing on it

She died a while back natural causes, but with covid etc. we haven't cleared out. Amazing what an 87 year old can accumulate.

Thinking on it, Martin might do the job for you anyway. Give him a call. Would save the hassle of hiring a van

Does he have a sideline of managing a football team? Might explain one or two things.

Could be on to something. He’s obsessed with possessions

Sorry for your loss

I have used this rental place more or less next door to the Cwmfelin club in the past.

Quality Vehicle Hire? Or something like that..

And they were no hassle, and cheaper than the top boys enterprise and that..

Thanks for condolences and recommendation. I have spoken with QVH. Their vans are over 5m long so too big for the tip.
They were competitively priced though

Surely some of their vans are under 5 metres? https://qualityvehiclehire.co.uk/vanhireswansea/

I would have thought the height restriction would be the only stumbling stone,, if I were you pick what van you need, then pop up to Llansamlet, or Clyne, have a chat with the guys on site..

I would think half of the stuff regarding permits, on their website is just to discourage commercial tippers.

As long as the van can get in, they would be right jobsworths to knock you back. Ask to speak to the head guy up in LLansamlet.

HTH.

My old man has a taxi and he can't take it into the tip because "it's a commercial vehicle". Ridiculous and a pain in the ass at times

Now that is a joke!! preposterous rules which need to be called out.

Sorry to hear about your mum. Getting in to a tip can be an arduous process these days.

Renting vans can be hard going, expensive and the cost can vary from day to day. I recently rented a Nissan van (Transit Custom size) from Enterprise, I searched the web site and found that renting on a Friday was over double the cost of a Tuesday, I also searched on line and got a discount code which brought the cost down to £51 for a day. Local Indy company was £86 albeit for a much bigger van and the excess was something like £250 or £400 and they didn’t do a CDW for the Insurance; Enterprise offered a CDW which took the price up a bit, but i knewci wouldn’t get hammered if something happened to the van.

My advice would be make sure you check all the details before hiring.

With all the red tape, it’s no wonder fly tipping is on the up,
