• Thank you very much | Diolch yn fawr

All at JackArmy.net would like to thank everyone who has played a part on this site over the past 25 years whether that is through writing, contributing, moderating, posting or just visting and reading.

Without any of you the work that has gone into the site would have been pointless and we will always be proud that we built, generated and managed a community that was such a big part of the Swansea City supporting life for so long.

It has been a pleasure to bring to you the site for so long but the time is now right to turn the lights out for the last time but we do it both with a heavy heart and a sense of pride driven by the so many messages received since we announced the closure.

The site will remain here for a period until we archive and mothball it for the last time later this summer but all aspects are in a read only format.

Thank you though for all the memories

    Phil Sumbler

He’s obviously not fully fit and was clearly rushed back due to injuries.

He'd only played 1 game since before Christmas prior to the lockdown and had a knee op in Feb and broke down in rehab, and was told he wouldn't play again this season.

Coming back after the lockdown he was never going to be match fit and would only play a bit part in the remaining games.

Yep it’s amazing how some blame Cooper for that.

A very good player overlooked in favour of lesser talents.
Should have been captain this season.

I agree. Under Potter, him & Rodon were a very good partnership and some commentators said they were the best partnership in the division - and I don't mean Wyndham!. Without the armband he hasn't been anywhere near as good especially since the restart and his time with us was definitely up.

Think his head was gone for the 2nd leg of the playoff maybe even before. He started throwing himself down easily which almost cost us a few times. Good luck to him but a similar player to Jordi Amat, don’t think he’ll go on to anything special

He's always done that. Ayew and roberts do too - they all try and referee the game.

He'll be missed. He wasn't as good this season as last (but that applies to a lot of the players), but we'll do well to replace him.

A clanger by Cooper overlooking the Horn for captaincy and giving it to Grimes

There are probably 6 or 7 players who’d be a more suitable captain to be fair.

Ayew is the only one who comes anywhere near but the club was still trying to sell him when decisions were made.
Who would be the other 5 or 6 ahead of MVdH?

Slightly exaggerated but you get my drift. Plenty in the squad would be at least equal to Grimes as a captain. Naughton, Roberts (wouldn’t be a good captain but neither is Grimes, at least Roberts makes some noise), Ayew, Routs, Rodon, VDH, (yes injuries plagued their season but they were fit at the start) Dyer (didn’t play all the time but I don’t think Grimes would have played as much if he wasn’t a designated captain).

Ayew without doubt should have had the armband though. Crazy that our star player who tries the hardest and is the most vocal, also one of the most experienced, didn’t get the armband.

Not necessarily saying they’d be better than VDH, but certainly at least equal to Grimes.

Nah not for me.

Big ego. Don’t get my wrong Grimes wasn’t right choice but VDH wanted out for ages. Another Mawson, not good enough.

How did he want out for ages then?

Dubbed "Iron Mike" by the Swansea faithful? I always referred to him as Van der Hoof.

Van fee Hoof is a very apt description. It was difficult to see how this guy had come through the Ajax system.

Decent player in the Championship but found wanting at PL level. Always gave the impression that post relegation he wanted out. As soon as he refused a new contract the writing was on the wall. Good luck to him but a Championship level player on PL wages, he will do well to get better than what he already has here.

Mawson is back in the Premier League!

Yeah sitting on the bench.

VDH wanted out, his words before the play off game spoke volumes. Glad he’s off the books.

As I wrote, Ayew was being touted until the last day of the transfer window so the captain's arm band had already been handed to Grimes ... a monumental error IMO.
Roberts? No way. He was already acting the big man with no reason.
Naughton wasn't going to be playing because of wages and Roberts was still thought to be the golden boy at right back. Also Cooper doesn't know how to handle grown ups.
Routladge was the same as Naughton at the start of the season and only cam into contention after offering to take a pay cut.
Dyer - same as Naughton and Routs at the start of the season.
Rodon had played about 20 games and was being benched before his first injury.
That left ...
Not making MVdHoorn captain after he'd stopped in so well the end of the previous season was a huge slap in the face and for me the first indicator Cooper isn't a man manager.
