Seen The Tubes headlining in Knebworth 1978, supporting bands were Zappa, Peter Gabriel, Rockpile, Boomtown Rats, Wilco Johnson

I've just done a little research just to jog my memory and I was wrong, Squeeze supported the Tubes (as per the poster), at Hammersmith Odeon in 1979 on the "Remote Control" tour and not on their 1977 UK debut at that venue as I stated. However, I was right about them playing and recording 2 nights at the Hammy Odeon in Nov 1977 for the WDYWFL double live album which was quite a bold move as they'd never even played in the UK before. I can't remember how may times I've seen them since '77 but I can recall at least 8, the most recent being in Bilston in 2016.

I came across some interesting NME quotes about those first 2 shows in 1977:

"Without doubt, the most spell-binding rock show I have ever seen was staged by The Tubes at the Hammersmith Odeon in November 1977."

“If you saw them, you will probably feel conned next time you hand over the notes to watch some other group merely stand there and play. The Tubes are a spectacle unlike any other. They present a relentless onslaught of humour, outrage, parody, idiocy, music and costume – a feast for the senses.”

“The stage exists in a continual chorus of activity that veers from anarchic chaos to precision orchestration with virtually no breathing space. The band continually assail the senses with extremes of spectacle. After doing their duet Don’t Touch Me There from astride a motorbike, Fee Waybill strapped backing singer Re Styles between two video monitors for Mondo Bondage."

Sorry, this has somewhat derailed a thread about old photographs so I will try to stick to that topic now. :D

Never apologise,DTMT is one of my favs.

Nice bit of space on the right, you could fit a football ground in there.

One night in 1966 at the Regal Ballroom, Ammanford, The Iveys from Swansea would meet the man who would eventually set them on the road to stardom.

That man Bill Collins was watching his son play bass for the The Mojos. - The son would in the late 1970's - early 1980's become part of a very popular TV crime busting duo.

Starsky and Hutch?

His son was Lewis Collins who played the part of "Bodie" (Bodie and Doyle) in the series - The Professionals.
