Vipotnik- even better than we think he is?

His goals per game stat won’t be far off his goals per touch in the match stat.
I said this last season, he’s making all the right runs, we just can’t find him quickly enough (or at all).
Get Widell in behind him, Inoussa will grow, Tymon and Key to bomb forward.
Vip will hit 20 by May.

Think he gets 20+ in a side that doesn’t have those attacking metrics, might even do it for us. The potential is frightening, what he lacks in mobility he makes up for 10 fold in ball striking.

He's far from the first, but this season he has been a salutary lesson in the dangers of writing a player off too soon, and far too many people did. Even last season he had something like a goal every three starts yet faced much of the same type of criticism that Idah is now.

There was always a player there for me, even if it took a while and a change of manager for him to start feeling truly comfortable.

Tymon faced some scrutiny as well. I often find it amazing how quick some fans are to write a player off based on a handful of minutes.

That's a fair challenge, and I'll stick my hand up and admit I was probably one of those.

That said, we're still only in October, and football is littered with examples of players who have had a red hot few months then regressed to the mean.

I'm not saying that'll happen with Vip - hell, I hope it doesn't, I'd love him to bang in 20 - but what I am saying is we've had more than our fair share of players of that ilk in the last 4 or 5 years (Paterson and Ntcham spring immediately to mind).

Paterson did well for us overall, and might have done even better if he hadn't been working for Russy.

That's even more so the case for Ntcham, who was potentially one of the best central midfielders in the division yet consistently found himself playing wide on the left.

It may well be the case that Vip eventually has a dry spell, but we've seen that he's got a rocket in either foot. Even last season we saw that (think Derby away). That's not going anywhere.

I did not understand that video. He does not have the 2nd best xG per game in the league. His xG per game is 21st and 0.38 per game, not 2nd and 0.7. The reason he has been so good is because he has done so well with so little xg. If we start getting him the ball more regularly in good positions he should do even better because his finishing is so lethal.

He's a good player and you can see his confidence has grown alot.
I think it was clear from the start that there was a player there, you always look for those little signs even if things are not going great.....they were there from the start with him and I am glad it's clicking for him and us.

I haven't watched the video, but isn't the OP saying that Vip's top in the division for outperforming his XG?

He is quoting the video that is incorrect. Listening back, he actually says 0.78 per game which is double what it is in reality. Strange mistake.

Iwan Robert’s is a big fan and thinks he reminds him of Aleksandar Mitrovic and you can kind of see what he means.
