Sunderland 5 Southampton 0...and this comment on Saints Forum -

Still can't get my head round the constant walking football when playing out from the back. The opponents get wise to it and know they have time to press and we end up giving it away in dangerous areas. The teams who play out from the back properly do it at a quick pace with good awareness for the pass and move. We are doing it for the sake of it - oh, aren't we a good footballing side passing out from the back? No because you're doing it completely wrong and, if that isn't sorted, we'll concede a shed load of goals this season - a 4 and a 5 against in 5 games is not a great sign.

:D

Ok yes, we were shit today as well :)

But let's get all the new signings with games under their belt and see where we are at Xmas, before writing us off.

We’re in the bottom three and that made you smile…f..k me, if people are honest I’m sure there’s plenty who’d swap the dross we watched today for how we played last year.

If the new guys arnt up to it, we'll be down by xmas. That's not a knee jerk after today, I thought Baggies away was abysmal, this was worse.

We played lovely football in the first 10 mins though :) :)

Give it to Xmas with the new players at least ...

Martinball masterclass. 68% possession and only 2 shots on target. They'll do a lot better than us mind.

Yeah I get you, I don’t hate Martin, but didn’t love him, but with the sh&t we’re currently in, it was a bit comforting seeing that result, I don’t care about Southampton, and they’ll be more than ok over the course of the season, but a good 5-0 hiding is about the only good thing to have seen today, nothing to shout about from our pov, but we gotta take what we can for positivity at present 😂

We're also minutes away from Cardiff blowing a 2 goal lead and making it so we could go above them if we get our shit together and beat them in 2 weeks, however unlikely that seems right now.

It's been a shit start to the season, but let's think about how enjoyable it would be to record our first win of the season at Legoland, leapfrogging them in the table and making them cack themselves at the thought of a triple doube...

Haven't they done that a couple of times this season now? Got a touch of us under Martin about them, a very soft underbelly. So it'll be important to keep getting at them if we do fall behind up there next game.

Yep. Today makes it three games in a row we've scored first and ended up losing. Both of our points so far have come after the opposition have scored first.

If we take the lead we need to keep pressing for more, while if we fall behind we have to believe they're vulnerable. Big two weeks for Duff and the coaching team now.
