It puzzles me that they seem relatively safe and it's either the Ospreys or Scarlets for the chop.

Ok, let’s put it to bed (my take only)

Dragons signed the contract with the WRU (PRA25). Scarlets and Ospreys refused and played ‘chicken’ and lost. PRA25 guarantees 3 years safety and removes the huge Covid loans from the signatories obligations.

The Scarlets and Ospreys have been given notice under the previous contract (PRA23) which lasts two years and leaves them owing the WRU about £18m between them. One or both would have folded without this new structure.

Dragons already have their own ground which is bigger than phase 2 of Nu St Helens, never mind phase 1.

Dragons (and Cardiff and Scarlets) have got bigger recent crowds than Ospreys

It looks like Ospreys owners Y11 might fancy taking over the ‘capital’ licence, so the Ospreys would be toast anyway unless Rob Davies (spit) wanted to keep them alive.

The WRU is full of utter cocks who have been itching to merge Scarlets and Ospreys forever, or ditch one if they can’t. Plus they get a team in the ‘capital’ which then logically (ha) supports a team east and west of that bullshit location.

WRU, on launch, have explicitly stated past performance is irrelevant as it’s only the future that counts.
