Problem he’s got is he also lied when asked about it. As this was a disciplinary matter it would have to be disclosed to the defence in any case he was involved in. If any defendant were to disagree with his version of events, and were to say he was lying, the first question I’d put to him would be ‘if you lied about something as silly as a pack of biscuits how can the jury take your word in something as serious as this ?’
I’ve had very similar scenarios to this in the past which have resulted in acquittals.
