Swansea City have been forced into issuing a club statement after another one of their players was racially abused via social media – this time Morgan Whittaker being the target for the mindless idiots who feel this has any place in society. On a weekend where sports clubs and teams across a wide...

Social media needs to get thier act together and quickly, everyone should be made to register traceable details and where abuse of this sort is proven jailtime, even for the first offence.

It will never stop because Facebook, twitter et al won't do anything about it, they only care about money.

Let’s stop blaming FB and social media in general and take a good, long hard look at ourselves. Social media is just a conduit. It’s obvious from the conversations over the last 12 months or so on the forum that is no longer Planet Swans, that the view amongst a significant number is that people of non-white origin are getting above their station, especially since BLM gave them a collective voice. These are people we rub along with in our daily lives. They can dress it up as debate all they like but it’s in the root of their belief system. We have to look within as the football family heading back to the 1970’s and it needs to be challenged.

But it’s ‘common sense’, ‘leftie take over’, ‘MSM lies’, ‘Marxists’, ‘fascists’, ‘no institutional racism’.
There is no debate. It’s either old prejudices or down the the rabbit hole ….
Yes, ‘we’ are the racists not the platform

Lowlifes... hopefully Morgan can put it behind him. I totally agree that social media accounts should require you to submit traceable information to be able to message other people.

These neanderthals will crawl back into their caves without the protection of anonymity

FB, Twitter and other social media platforms are not the problem per se but they do give the "people" who are the problem every opportunity to abuse people from all walks of life who wouldn't be in the firing line if those opportunities did not exist and one way of doing that is to cut the conduit. Social media platforms surely have a global social responsibility to ensure that they are not the facilitators and instruments of abuse and while they have the means to, at the very least, massively reduce it, should be held to account for neglecting those responsibilities.
