• Thank you very much | Diolch yn fawr

All at JackArmy.net would like to thank everyone who has played a part on this site over the past 25 years whether that is through writing, contributing, moderating, posting or just visting and reading.

Without any of you the work that has gone into the site would have been pointless and we will always be proud that we built, generated and managed a community that was such a big part of the Swansea City supporting life for so long.

It has been a pleasure to bring to you the site for so long but the time is now right to turn the lights out for the last time but we do it both with a heavy heart and a sense of pride driven by the so many messages received since we announced the closure.

The site will remain here for a period until we archive and mothball it for the last time later this summer but all aspects are in a read only format.

Thank you though for all the memories

Good keeper…always wanted to have him back here. Happy with Vigs now though.

Woodman’s probably on a lovely salary for a third choice keeper, will get the odd start there for the best team in the UK and potentially win some medals. Not a bad deal.

Can’t blame him taking the cash. Retirement fund.

Tough for players to earn a crust once they hang up their boots and without this opportunity to earn decent £ then he would probably struggle to earn a decent wage after his playing days.
Bollox he could get a normal job like the rest of us.

They kind of had to, having signed a younger and better keeper to replace him. He's played 20+ games each of the last two seasons and presumably wouldn't have been happy to play 0 games in the upcoming season.
Well yes, he more than hinted that he needed/wanted to play more or be first choice at a club, he's a quality keeper he's never let Liverpool down.

Imagine being one of the very few gifted football players, who decide to throw away the best years of your career, being first choice keeper playing week in week out at a very decent level, in favour a few extra bob in the bank (let’s be honest a championship players wages are not to be sniffed at). Literally millions of people would jump at the chance to do what he can do.

I’ll never get my head around that.

In fairness to him. He was released by Preston. Where does he go? Anyone else in for him?
It's either dropping down the divisions or banking some cash.

Woodman was out of contract next week, if he had opportunities to join a team as a first choice keeper or to be legitimate competition for the gloves then I am sure he would have taken that. However if it was a choice between the dole and being 3rd choice keeper for Liverpool not everyone would take the dole out of principle

Besides being part of the Liverpool squad is good for the CV even if he never gets an opportunity for the next two or three years.

He wasn't released by Preston, his contract is expiring. He's been Preston's first-choice goalkeeper for three seasons, I imagine it was his choice to leave. I'm sure Preston would have made him an offer if he hadn't told them he was leaving.

I'm not knocking him for choosing to go sit on the bench for the PL champions, but the idea he had no other offers on the table at Championship level is just silly.
