Woody

To be fair I don't think Woody was at fault for any of the goals but some poor defending by Newcastle.
To save a penalty only to have the rebound slotted in is very frustrating but again Newcastle defence slow to react.
I think it's fair to sat the jury is still out on Woody as a PL keeper but don't think he'll get much of a chance when the other keepers are fit.

His ties to Newcastle are somewhat gone, I hope he does well and if he is only 3rd choice, gets a proper transfer to a more southerly club. The loan system of letting an employee work for another club for two seasons is sad to see. Good luck to Freddie, will be following Steve Cooper I reckon.

Nah, still the same. Happy to eat humble pie or laugh, but I dont wish him any ill.

You've turned into a very bitter bloke on here.

Enjoy other people's success, learn to smile and be happy for people.

Not at all. I think he’s a weak goalkeeper, wildly overrated. Others think differently. I’m interested to see how he goes, but I’m happy to see him succeed.

Same with Cooper. I think him a hopeless fraud that wasted two seasons of our precious parachute money, but if he turns into Bill Shankly elsewhere, good luck to him. When they are not in our team, it’s an arms length interest, but still an interest.

A few quotes from the Newcastle forum

"Generally his distribution has been okay, actually looks like he aims his kicks towards one of our players rather than an aimless punt. He had no chance with the finish from Ings and a penalty is a lottery. He actually has made some decent saves and forced the forward into a decision through his positioning, however yet to see him leave his line or collect a cross convincingly within his 6 yard box. Ulitmately he is two games into the Premier League so quite harsh to judge write him off just yet."

"Don't think he has done anything wrong really.
A few things to improve on, obviously, he's young."

"He’s been fine."

On the whole they support him.

He had no chance whatsoever with either goal yesterday.

They say a good keeper is worth 10 points a season in the Premier League, problem is that Newcastle's defence is absolutely shocking so it doesn't matter if they had two goalkeepers they are still going to lose games.

Conceded another 4

He's got hands like poppadoms. Thought he was a fine keeper but how many times can we honestly say he was beaten by shots he should've saved at championship level.

His ability to save more penalties than most does a lot of covering for how poor a shot stopper he actually is.
