Belgium currently getting spanked by Ukraine in that nations league thing, are the Belgians what they used to be?

Way things have been going with Bellamy I really fancy us winning this group and qualifying automatically.

They haven't been the same team since El Judas got his hands on them, hope he now does the same with the Portuguese squad he's been lucky to inherit.

Just looked at their line up for tonights game and they aren't half the side they used to be.

De Bruyne best days seem to appear to be behind him and Lukaku is some what of an enigma.

They shouldn't hold any fear for us.

Agreed about El Judas, no idea what he's done to warrant another crack at managing at this level.

He's one of the very best at bullshitting people.

When they drop out of the top 20 ranked teams.
Aye anyone who thinks the seeding system is fair are deluding themselves

As a general rule it keeps the strongest and most influential sides at the top as they consistently get easier opponents when it comes not only to qualifying but also the group stages at the major tournaments.

Occasionally a team will see the rise of a "golden generation" or a player on the level of Gareth Bale or Ibrahimovic who can single handedly drag the rest of their side up to a new level however those sides usually inevitably fall back down to "where they belong"

Of course there are some sides who do game the system, was it I think Switzerland who took advantage of international friendly windows for several years to only arrange games against weak opponents to bolster their FIFA world rankings? Friendly matches don't give as much ranking coefficient as competitive games but they do count.

Wales did what you describe in your last paragraph under Coleman. We often just had training camps. The system has changed now so that you must arrange a friendly during the international windows when you don't have a qualifier / nations league game.

I would like to see a truly FA cup style international tournament. No seeding, purely draws from start to finish.

No you misunderstand, Switzerland at one point were ranked 4th in the FIFA world rankings.

This was mostly because every international window before the Nation's League was introduced they would only arrange friendlies against low tier teams so they were unbeaten in international games for something like 4 years.

Not quite World Cup qualification but Scotland have capitulated hilariously against Greece in Glasgow in the Nations League play off, BBC2 now. The sweaties won the first leg in Athens 1-0 but currently three down at Hampden with about 25 minutes left. It’s all gone very quiet there.

Our group really shouldn't hold any fear for us, especially the way Bellamy has got us playing.
No Page-esque slip ups (Armenia) against the lower teams, beat Belgium at home (very doable) and don't lose away & we'll be there or there abouts.

Absolutely, the way they seem to play without fear is the complete opposite of the last few years and so refreshing to see.

I'd be happy with a point during the week and then spanking the Belgians at our place.

Even when we were 1-1, you knew we'd step up and get more goals.
Like you say, complete opposite of the time under Page.
