Friday night could see Swansea City experience a season high crowd with over 17000 expected at the Liberty for the visit of Portsmouth.
And that is something that the Chairman wants to eclipse week in week out as the Swans look for the ultimate promotion.
“We would like to think that we could fill our stadium every week, and at the moment we probably deserve that to happen,” the Swansea chairman told the Evening Post.
“We are experienced enough to know that sell-outs will not come overnight, but we are ticking along and, if we are still competing in the top two or three from January onwards, I think everything will improve.
“People will naturally think that we are in with a chance and I’m sure by the time we finish in May, our average crowd will be better than it was last year.
“We want the stadium full,” Jenkins added.
“It goes without saying that the more fans we can pull in, the more money we can spend on players. That’s simple โ a fact of life.
“We are up against teams in the Championship who do get bigger crowds than us, so naturally they will have more money to spend.
“The bigger crowds we get, the easier it is for us to compete.
“There are only two professional clubs in South Wales and I think we’re more or less split down the middle in terms of population.
“We know there’s a catchment area there and we are working hard to ensure our crowds continue to grow even though the recession does not make things easy.
“Cardiff have had some good crowds, but that probably comes with the so-called bigger names they have signed and perhaps a bigger budget.
“Over the last few years their expectations have grown because, to be fair to them, they have been consistent. They have got to the play-offs and Wembley and naturally that brings that extra level of support.
“But I am not concerned about Cardiff. We are just working hard, with quite a lot going on in house, to keep our gates at an average of 15,000 or more.”
