Tate had to sit out last weekend’s draw with Doncaster due to suspension but he should return on Friday night to take his place in the defence as the Swans look for the victory that will draw them level with Cardiff in 2nd place.
But drawing level with their rivals is not the main thing on Tate’s mind โI donโt think there would be too much significance at the minute if we pull level with Cardiff,โ he told the Western Mail. โBut taking three points off Portsmouth is important and so all we can think about is trying to win a tough game and then see what happens elsewhere.
โWeโre doing OK at the moment, but thatโs all you can say โ itโs only November and thereโs a long way to go.
โBut weโre enjoying it and for me itโs a real pleasure to be part of it.
โAfter missing out on a play-off place in the last two years, weโve come to terms with the pressures involved and our experience will hopefully help us stay up in those top few places.
โEveryone knows how much I love this place and it would be great to be part of another promotion, but Iโm not thinking any further than the next game.
โWeโve always had a great atmosphere for Friday night games at the Liberty.
โThereโs a different feeling to it under the lights, especially if we are doing well.
โIt also allows all the local lads who play football on a Saturday afternoon to come along and support us.
โI hope we have a decent crowd on Friday because it does make a difference to the players on the pitch.
โThe players deserve it as well. We are third in the league, playing some good football, certainly more attacking than last season, and I think the fans appreciate it.
โWe are value for money, even though I still believe there are more goals in us.”
