The Swans have confirmed that Yannick Bolasie has left Swansea at the end of his short term contract.  He made 11 appearances for the Swans in all competitions.

Last week manager Luke Williams talked about his desire to keep Bolasie at the club although he also added that there was probably more to it than just awaiting the player making his mind up “It’s something along those lines,” the boss said.  “It’s a little bit more complicated but if I talk more it’s probably unfair.

He’s not a kid, he’s an experienced guy, he has other options in his life. The first thing you have to know is that he’s training really well, he’s so focused and he’s really great in the building so this isn’t a commitment thing, he’s in a different stage of his career where these guys have to think about things more deeply. We’re trying (to get him to stay).

“Of course we’ve all seen a lot of Yannick over the years because he’s been a top player, so I’ve got a good impression of him anyway.”

Whatever those other considerations were in the mind of the player it appears that he has decided to move on from the club and Williams added today “Yannick has been great to work with during his time at the club, he has been a real professional and we wish him well in whatever is next for him.”

Been watching the Swans since the very late 1970s and running the Planet Swans website (in all its current and previous guises since the summer of 2001 As it stood JackArmy.net was right at the forefront of some of the activity against Tony Petty back in 2001, breaking many of the stories of the day as fans stood against the actions where the local media failed. Why did we sign him?

No resale value, not fit and unlikely to be fit for some weeks,

Throwing millions around on signings and wages is great, but when it’s on garbage it becomes a different story. Our recruitment is woeful.

Not surprised.

Offered a few minutes in games when he played but overall didn't produce enough.

On his rumoured wage, very little return.

Good luck to him

Because we were reeling after the season long injury to Ginnelly, he was a free agent and it suited both groups to do a short team deal. Hopefully we find something longer term in January (which we have) and he puts himself in the shop window for someone better prepared to pay the wages he expects (jury will be out on that one).

A short term deal for an unfit player is unlikely to deliver the goals of either side.

I just hope he was on very low basic with higher payments based on performance.
