• Thank you very much | Diolch yn fawr

All at JackArmy.net would like to thank everyone who has played a part on this site over the past 25 years whether that is through writing, contributing, moderating, posting or just visting and reading.

Without any of you the work that has gone into the site would have been pointless and we will always be proud that we built, generated and managed a community that was such a big part of the Swansea City supporting life for so long.

It has been a pleasure to bring to you the site for so long but the time is now right to turn the lights out for the last time but we do it both with a heavy heart and a sense of pride driven by the so many messages received since we announced the closure.

The site will remain here for a period until we archive and mothball it for the last time later this summer but all aspects are in a read only format.

Thank you though for all the memories

    Phil Sumbler

If these two were options for next season which one would be more suited to our playing style?

I've no idea on Langstaff but definitely don't want McBurnie back down here. The only winner if that happens is Wind St.

because of the personnel he inherited, I don’t think we’ve seen LW’s preferred playing style.
When we do, Langstaff.

I'm still intrigued as to where McBurnie ever got linked other than from Andy Cole who has stopped posting here...

EVen if he was to leave Sheffield United his wage demands would take us out of the equation - I just dont see him as an option

McBurnie will be 28 in a couple of weeks time so hardly past his sell-by date and has just finished a season in the prem where he made more than 20 appearances. Why would he join a mid-table Championship side?

McBurnie all day for me.
He would thrive playing off Ronald and will add much needed physicality up top and in both defending and attacking set pieces.

His wage normally would be out of our league but he would certainly be up for a return to Swansea.
All depends at nearly 28 if an offer to good to turn down comes along.

Lets be honest here, he's not coming back here this summer, apart from the fact that he'll take up most of our budget whatever that maybe.
People are dreaming.

Personally I was always a fan of McBurnie, he was a physical presence up front and was great at hold up play and spreading the ball to bring others into play too. He was also a strong finisher, temperament and pace were his weaknesses and one would hope that five years later at least the former has been reined in a bit and channelled in a more productive way.

Would he accept the wage drop required to return to us? Who knows that except for him?
He has maintained very close ties with the club though and would often come to visit Swans matches and get involved on twitter so maybe there could be something in there.

Why would he? None of his "mates" are still here - lets not pretend he has a massive affiliation to Swansea City because he doesn't

When you say mates, assuming you mean ex players of Swansea?
Still has a few mates down here who are not pro footballers.
He likes it down here.

Can I see the pull of a place over money winning the day? For a soon to be 28yr old then his next contract will need to be based on finance so the answer will likely be no.

Wants and needs are 2 very different things so I would certainly say you are spot on.

Yes thats what I meant! Those he was pictured with when he was at the Cardiff game a couple of years back (The Rodon brothers as an example)

I just dont see him having any affiliation here over anywhere else (and that comes back to the money piece)

I also think its a pointless discussion as not sure he is someone that would interest us anyway and it comes back to this all started with Andy Cole and his "ITK" posts

For someone who no longer has any connections here I seem to remember this season he paid for a Swans fan's funeral, I am not privy to McBurnie's circle of friends but I don't think it was someone he knew personally.
