• Thank you very much | Diolch yn fawr

All at JackArmy.net would like to thank everyone who has played a part on this site over the past 25 years whether that is through writing, contributing, moderating, posting or just visting and reading.

Without any of you the work that has gone into the site would have been pointless and we will always be proud that we built, generated and managed a community that was such a big part of the Swansea City supporting life for so long.

It has been a pleasure to bring to you the site for so long but the time is now right to turn the lights out for the last time but we do it both with a heavy heart and a sense of pride driven by the so many messages received since we announced the closure.

The site will remain here for a period until we archive and mothball it for the last time later this summer but all aspects are in a read only format.

Thank you though for all the memories

    Phil Sumbler
    Owner, jackarmy.net

Duff and Sheehan took 1.2 points per game
Williams has taken 1.3 points per game.

Over the course of the season, that's a 4-5 point improvement.

So before boxing day it was pretty much line ball with the other two? Are we sure it's not Weston Super Mare that want to employ him?

I suppose it's neither here nor there.

Although when you consider that Duff presided over our worst start to a season for decades and was universally hated, it does make you wonder why Williams is/was so popular in some quarters.

Beat Cardiff once and showed 'pashun'. Oh and fist pumped and kissed the YJB ring?

If we're being honest, that's basically it. The kiddies lap that stuff up.
Don’t forget selfies. A stadium selfie renders a manager invincible. Bonus points awarded for having your kids in the photo.

I'm not sure I had any monetary figure in mind when I said massive. My thought on this is that we have to come away from wasting time and effort on piss poor loans, get in better players through that extended scouting network and maybe blood some of our own. It is also massive in so much as we have very few saleable assets now so we have smaller budgets than those we spunked away in recent seasons.

And in terms of actions speaking louder than words - there is no real evidence of that yet but we are in very early days
Makes perfect sense, so our owners now need to :
- not necessarily spend big but spend more wisely, by:
  • continuing to leverage our global sourcing model
  • not signing dud loanees, and instead blood more of our in-house gems
The biggest immediate actions are therefore to get the right Sporting Director, along with a far better manager than rookie Williams could ever be.

The above will no doubt be aligned with and build seamlessly upon the significant investment and positive actions our owners have made to date:
  • Record spend
  • End-to-end business transformation
  • New global sourcing model
  • Cutting our cloth appropriately to sustain and grow our club to kick on
  • Retaining our MVPs along with our playing heritage
Any news on the new SD ?
