Yesterday's formation and style was a massive gamble and we got lucky.
I have to give him kudos for picking up the 3 points and I totally agree that he played a way because ultimately he didn't think the players at hand could go out and win by playing front foot football.....we done this against Boro and we won but with more creativity then we would have got another goal or 2.

That style done a job yesterday but on once you don't get as lucky in one game playing that style then the confidence levels will drop. You rely heavily on having a bit more quality in the final 3rd to regularly see consistent results with this style and we don't have it....time goes on and the defence gets frustrated with the forward line in not adding to their defensive contribution.

This is why clubs tend to bring in the firemen to keep the team in the league towards the end of the season, very rarely do you see an improvement once those guys are then given the job permanently for next season.

We need to see a new face, new ideas but we can't go to far the other way in an appointment in the way we play.

The ITK peeps seem to think theres a lot of things happening during the close season, Forum message seems to say money is tight.
Clubs a mess, team this season , wont be the one next season thats for sure.
If theres money, then its a no.
No Money, then its a yes, as he probably knows what we have at the club going forward.Rather have another messiah coming in and wrecking things again.

I don't dispute there was a job to do but for goodness sake yesterday's game was a shocker. 1 shot on target against 4th bottom Derby . It was obvious second half Ronald was struggling, why wasn't Bianchini or Cooper brought on . He's had some good results and also had some shocking performances, Preston and yesterday. He's not the man to be taking us forward in my opinion.

It was shocking, but let me tell you what would have been more shocking and what would have definitely happened had Williams still been here.

We'd have set up in a predictable 4-2-3-1 trying to "out-football" Derby, Derby's huff and puff high tempo snapping at heels tactics would have overwhelmed us, Williams would have made substitutions that made us worse without changing the formation, and we'd have lost anywhere between 0-1 or 0-3.

I don't like performances like yesterday anymore than you do, but they give us a platform to nick some games. We didn't have that platform with the previous manager because it was rainbows and unicorns football that bore no resemblance to reality.

I dont know what the answer is to the question of how AS win ratio compares to previous Swansea managers.
He comes in when a mess has obviously been made by his predecessors and he cleans t up. Given a coupe of additions especially a proven prolific goal scoter then he should start the next season in charge for me.

I'll be first one to say no. A nice no that is. 😝😝. If we want to grow and stop ending up below par, we need more ambition in our coaching set up. Sheehan has stepped in and helped the sinking ship, but long term he is not the answer. Also anyone who says the players like him and want him to stay, I say to that. Grimes and Co said same with Williams and look how that turned out.
I’m not disagreeing with you but what is your football coaching/management experience that allows you to make a comment such as this. The players we have are limited and he’s doing a good job with what he has. Maybe his style would be different if he had players to suit his style. I’m not looking for an argument I just can’t understand people who say we need to look further than him. Eustace at Derby brought in too try and keep them up, what they are playing is not his style but he has too keep them up so he looks at what he has . Amorim at Man Utd can hardly win a game as the players can’t play his style but we know his style works and looks good. It’s all about a bit of luck and a rub of the green often

He's come in and raised what was a low bar, ever so slightly.

Five at the back against Derby at home, Vip comes on last week and scores a vital equaliser against Leeds and finds himself back on the bench for Liam Cullen.

His line ups, tactics and substitutions are very much on par with Williams.

There have to be better candidates out there than him.
Absolute nonsense. We would have been battered in that game yesterday if Williams had still been here as he wouldn’t have tried to negate their obvious game plan and would have had us fannying around at the back being pressed hard and losing the ball. Under LW 10 mins into a game you knew which way it would go. If they pressed us we would crumble if they didnt press we would simply make hay in the sunshine as they say

My opening sentence mention he has raised the bar.

His line ups and tactics are only marginally more successful than his predecessor.

Yesterday was an absolute borefest.

Agree. Alot of people are saying how bad the team is, but putting Cullen on instead of VP and approaching the game like we was going against Liverpool was madness. Yes they won last 4 matches, but anyone who watched the match can see they was not a good side and their position tells you the story. We could of easily lost yesterday, as they had at least 2 open chances. Anyone who thinks this was a good tactic needs realise that he will be doing the same tactics this time next year if he is with us. A win is a win, but he hasn't exsactly reinvented the wheel. Agreed with all your points.

To be fair we could of lost at least by 2 goals yesterday. I am and have been a fan of how Sheehan has come across and done in circumstances, but long term he is not the answer. We need to buck the trend and get more experience in. But who knows it's all a gamble.

Yesterday was notable that AS doesn't trust his players.

Setting up in that formation screamed of we can't compete on the front foot against a team 4th bottom albeit strung some wins together. Against a top 3 side I get it as the quality is there but Derby with 8 first team players missing we set up as scared rabbits.

Not convinced on Cullen especially with Ronald up top would ever work both lack physically, pace and link up play but I guess AS likes the high press.

Against Plymouth, we need AS to back the squad firstly binning the 5 at the back and get Vip on the pitch. Our crossing is still abysmal which nobody knows how to improve.

48 points all but makes us safe with a win this week surely does. Time to release the shackles, get some academy kids some game time and phase out the players that the club will move on including Darling.
Maybe. Or he just thought…hmm good result up at Leeds, I’ll just pick the same team.

Ah, the mythical ‘proven goal scorer’ rears its head early.

We have a proven goalscorer. Hes done so for Blackpool and Derby. As has VIP in other leagues. When on earth will people realise that anyone playing up front for us is on to a loser. Piroe in this team would be lucky to get 5 goals in a season unless they were outside the box worldies. Imagine the fun watching crosses sail out of play or hit the first defender, and cut backs straight to opposition midfielders. Must be joyous.

I think it was combination of 2 things. How team played against Leeds and also he went into the match with slight fear. In his pre and post match comments you can see that he had driven home to the players how dangerous Derby are and coming off 4 results. For me he approached this wrong. But hey, what do you I know 🤣🤣🤣

Strikes me of someone who is conservative with his style of play,

The owners need to look at the empty seats at the stadium and take note playing 5 at the back against opponents such as Derby isn't going to fill those seats for the remainder of this season or next.
