Next Seasons Squad

Yet we have never really tried him there, even though we have been crying out for a decent one since Ntcham left . Crazy .
In fairness Ntcham wasn't a number 10 either.
His best position was box to box as a number 8

Last game 3-0, might have been 8-0, shows its all about scoring. Premier League was all about Michu and Bones scoring priceless goals. Gomis blanked then in Turkish Primers the next season I read he netted more than our entire squad, unbelievable though it seems! Can we unearth another Scotland, Latchford. Ivor Allchurch, or Jack Fowler even?

As it is with all contracted players

Viguroux
Fisher
Broome

Key
Tymon
Tjoe a On
Cabango

Franco
Fulton
Cooper
Cotterill
Widell

Ronald
Eom
Ginnelly
S Parker
Bianchini
Govea
Congreve

Vipotnik
Cullen
Yates

Out of contract end of the season
Mclaughlin

Not including the loanees with us currently and players like Watts,Nzingo and Josh Thomas who have loans until Nov/Dec.

Whats the view guys?
Who is getting new contracts and where we need strengthening?
It certainly looks like a blank canvas in black and white.
We need to try to keep Darling without overpaying. That said, he's likely gone.

As for the rest out of contract, assuming the manager next season is onboard, I would offer Joe and player/coach role for next season. Naughton, would be worth keeping only if he'd accept a significant reduction in wages.

The rest need to go.

We're certainly going to need a starting CB assuming Darling is gone. We'll also need cover here as well. We'll also need one starting midfielder to join Franco and Widell.

Any other strengthening is a luxury we likely won't see unless we sell.

That is just mad... there must be scope to offer Darling something decent with both Ped and LOB and a few others off the wage bill.

I'm thinking that boat has sailed. He must have something already lined up for when his contract expires, I would.

Spending almost £40K a week on 2 players who are not even first choice is why clubs need to be bank rolled or sell assets

Coleman parting present. Though he got O Brian, he practically had to beg him and guarantee alot to secure him. I would like to think alot will leave and club have already identified what needs to be done.

Yes, I’d keep Darling without breaking the budget. That’s probably the best piece of business we could do with the defence.

It’s a shame we’ve not seen much of Joey. I thought he was immense in the week and was basically our heartbeat. It was the best performance by someone filling that ‘Grimes role’ since the latter left. Joey was almost rolling back the years. But I struggle to see how we can justify a wage if he rarely plays.

Top of the pops should be replacements for O’Brien and Allen.
Marc Leonard was the midfielder on everyone’s wish lists last summer and I’ve not heard of him since… and he’s in League 1.
Crucial position for us and I dread to think where we’d be if we hadn’t brought O’Brien in.

The wages saved by the end of Pedersen's contract are not insignificant. There is real danger with breaking the wage structure to bring in a player such as O'Brien permanently though, and that is that other players when their contracts are up for renewal will also want such wages, especially if they are key players to the squad.

O'Brien is the finished product of what Franco could become with another year or two of experience in this league and development. I would offer Joe a one year extension with reduced salary but bigger appearance based incentives and a pathway to coaching and look to bring in an understudy for him so he could guide their development.

Be that a new player or someone coming up from the reserves/youth setup in a similar way to how Joe broke through and was guided by Leon.

If O'Brien would accept a 20-25k a week salary (about 75-80% wage cut) then that would be incredible, but unless as a person he has completely fallen in love with the city and the surrounding area to raise his upcoming new kid then its never going to happen.
