Do you remember....

I just brought back some wine from Franschoek.
Had a great day wine tasting around there and Stellenbosch
Did you go to Grande Provence? That was our favourite in Franschhoek, a truly wonderful place. We brought four bottles back, but that’s quickly been whittled down to just the one surviving specimen. It was a great day on the tram!

Yes. If I recall we went to Fairview in Paarl to do the cheese with wine, then towards stellenbosch and Warwick wines,
Lunch in a lovely mountain winery and through to Thelema and onto Franshoek. Wonderful day

We eventually stayed in Franschhoek for three nights; there was an element of making it up as we went along. When it came down to it we were dropping the hire car off in Cape Town at 6pm and jumping on the plane at 8pm to fly home. To be able to drink a pint for £2.50 or a glass of wine for £3, in 2025 and in those surroundings is still a little bit surreal. The best holiday we’ve ever had.

I was at a conference so only had two days. Though even went on a boat trip the morning before coming home. Really liked Cape Town and as you say preposterously cheap with a weak Rand

We spent the first couple of nights in Camps Bay, a short £5 Uber into the V&A.
