Summer Transfer Window

Keep Cullen as backup - he's not much cop, but he tries his heart out, has the club at heart, and he will get you the odd goal with decent service.

Sell Yates, Vipotnik and Kuk to raise the funds to bring in someone half decent who will get you 15-20 goals.

If the owners are serious about pushing on, they at least need to be in the conversation about getting him back here.
I am not convinced on that.

He had a purple patch here during his five months with us which prompted Sheff Utd to snap him up. But since then the past four years for him has been an unmitigated disaster 8 goals and 4 assists in 116 appearances and that includes 36 appearances for Sheffield United this season who are one of the sides frankly too good for the division.

Tbf to Brewster, he had an ACL. I still think on a free he's got to be worth a punt. Surely he is better than what we've got if he gets a rhythm going.

There's a reason Sheffield United have let his contract run down mind
Given the injury history and his struggles since, they would probably have let him go anyway, but I'll bet the wages he's on will have played a part in the decision. They paid £23.5m for him when they were in the PL and he was coming from Liverpool, I I'd guess he was on very good money for the 5 years of that contract.

Rhian Brewster is out of contract next month.
Sheff Utd paid 23m for him 5 years ago. Like his style of play but in 5 season with them he has only scored 8 goals

Other than the 20 game loan spell he had with us when he scored 10 goals he has failed to deliver.
0,3,1,0,4 goals last 5 seasons in 108 appearances.

So no thank you. Not paying top wages for that record. Our Liam at 12 a season is better production

The biggest plus for me is the obvious improvement in our recruiting strategies. We are getting younger/quicker and if we manage contracts properly we will be building talent that we can sell to look for the next generation. The Darling debacle CANNOT be repeated!!
The unknown is how many of our youngsters can step up to the first team squad and be viable options off the bench. If there are 6-8 ready we are in great shape (keeper, Parker A,Parker S, Cotterill, Lissah, Congreve, Lloyd, Govea, Wilson, Thomas etc)
We HAVE to be better, have a strategy and avoid panic buys - Christie, Pederson, Tjoe A On, Kuharevych, Yates, McLaughlin etc have sucked very important resources out of our club.

Lloyd and Parker given a few mins on Sat so it looks like Sheehan wants to try and bring them through. Lissah only just returned from long injury so may not see him soon in 1st team. But yes, I agree we have been lax since bringing James and Ollie through and we need to get back to doing that

Lissah will almost certainly go out on loan next season
Wouldn't be surprised if Arthur Parker and Ben Lloyd did the same
Thomas is on loan in Ireland until the January transfer window
Nzingo is the same but in the US
Govea is also building up his fitness after a long term injury, wouldn't surprise me if he spends time on loan too
Cotterill, Sam Parker and Wilson might be the ones we see most in and around the first team next season

If he had not played for us previously, how many would be advocating that we sign Brewster on the back of those stats? I bet it’s nobody.
