Summer Transfer Window

His recent record in the UK is better than a lot of people think. Scored close to one in three in his last season in the Prem for SU.

Not sure he fits the "young with resale value" profile that we seem to be mostly targeting now though.

He is potentially someone who will work really well in the side, especially with quick wingers alongside him who he can both feed and feed off.

I also like the fact that we would be gaining someone who knows the club (for what that's worth) a bit after losing Allen and Naughton.

McBurnie potentially coming home…

My dreams are about to come true 😍🙏

What’s more important with McBurnie is his overall game play is brilliant his work rate and holding up play is what we need, plus he’s a big fan of Sheehan.

How old is he now?
If he can realistically contribute to the team then yes.
But if this is nostalgia to put a few more bums on seats, then no.

The operative word here in all the reports is "Consider". And we should. However I dont think this is anywhere near the top of our list of targets. Yes it's a free but he can still command a good wage at his age and little to no resale vale

McBurnie doesn't have lightning pace, but he is aggressive in challenging for the ball, can hold it up well and his ability to bring others into play is excellent. Properly fed he is also plenty capable of bagging 20 goals a season (as evidenced by our first season in the Championship). Wages would be the biggest obstacle, but with his current side dropping relegated from La Liga surely the Premier League wages he was getting at Sheff Utd which got cut to go to Gerona will see another hit anyway even if he did stay with them and didn't trigger his (alleged) relegation release clause.

Suit Wrexham more than us. Tall target man. They play 2 up top and 2 of their 3 options are Jay Rodriguez 36 and Steven Fletcher 38 (just released)

I think given how much Liam was chosen ahead of VIP in our front 3 that Sheehan favors a quicker, cleverer more mobile player for the middle of our front 3 especially now that we seem to have a faster counter attacking approach to some of our play

I wouldn't be opposed to resigning McBurnie on a 2+1 year deal, that would take him up to 31 or 32 years of age

Most importantly his off field demeanour seems to have mellowed out now

He had acquired a bit of a reputation for enjoying a few too many tipples down Wind Street which followed him to Sheffield, his sometimes not well considered twitter activity never helped him much either

I think he’s married and got a daughter now which has probably helped him settle down, Swansea nice option for him to come to.

Him & Ben Davies would certainly give us a massive shot in the arm of experience.
Whether or not either of them come back remains to be seen and I'm doubtful of both happening tbh, but at least there is some optimism surrounding transfers for a change.
