Summer Transfer Window

First interview. Nowt wrong with what he said there, he knows it will be a step up but if he didn't have the confidence to back himself in a higher division then I doubt we would have made the case to recruit him.

Only a two year contract and several mentions in the signing article about strength in depth and competition for places tells me that we will look elsewhere for a Darling replacement if the inevitable turns out true and he moves on to pastures new.

He certainly won’t be looked at as a starter, unless of course he proves people wrong. The articles linking him with us both on the BBC and WO stressed that he was being brought in for cover. We’ll almost certainly be looking elsewhere for our Darling replacement.

Montague on Obrien today

"We are talking to Lewis and having good conversations with Forest.

"We would love to be able to do something. It’s just timing and matching it all up with the financial realities."
It’s in an interesting situation, if we get him on another season long loan then his contract will be up next summer creating the potential for a free agent signing. I doubt Forest would want to agree to something where they don’t get a fee, unless they consider that fee to be small enough to let go of, can’t see that myself though.

In the article prior to those 2 sentences it says working to buy.

They bought him for around 6m on a 4 year contract. So their final payment to Huddersfield this coming year is 1.25m which at a minimum they would want to cover if they sold him. They would also benefit from getting his wages off this coming years books amounting to 1.5m So....

I think the bottom line is what interest is there from other clubs to push the transfer price up

I hope adeal can be done for O'Brien, not unreasonable to think that if O'Brien wants to come then a deal can be struck.

Yes wages may be an issue but if he strikes a deal for the remaining contract with Forest then we may be in pole position on this one.

Same here but it interests me, I enjoy that side but I get why some are not so fussed.....it's a huge side of football so why not embrace it 😁

How do you know that? The payment schedule may have been anything.

We have had all sorts over the years.

Yes I do disagree.
We are linked with a different player every day.

The Indie reported this morning that this particular pkayer had signed and they were right and it was an exclusive.

No idea why a few in here like to bash the other site both are very informative.

And the indie were spot on with this one.
The report was yesterday morning not today.

A week ago I’m sure I saw something from them on twitter saying the Santos link was a jackanory story and agent talk. I may be wrong and it may have been another site in which case ignore that. It all goes to show how quickly this stuff moves.

Anyway. None of it matters does it? I don’t understand why there is this sudden competition about who posts what and when. The Swans have historically leaked like an absolute sieve on transfers and so on (seems a little less now which I can believe given one of the main culprits isn’t there any more) and half of Swansea has known stuff in advance.

Surely all sites get things right and get things wrong at different times because different sources think different things and also because everything moves around all over the place.

Don’t they all have a place. It’s only a bit of fun isn’t it? Keith’s site raises money for a really important charity which is commendable. I don’t post there as I found some posters utterly irritating to me, but others will post there as well as here.

Sometimes we seem like a fractured fanbase for not apparent reason.

To be fair, I had a look and SI were saying it was pretty much a done deal on the 4th before others, so I hold my hands up on this one. They got it spot on.

I am not claiming to know anything. I am passing opinions like everyone else on this site.

They paid 10m for 2 players (fact, no, just a bbc report) Guesstimating 6m for one 4m for the other and whilst there all kinds of ways to structure deals and payment schedules, including payment in full up front, the most typical is evenly spread over his 4 year contract.

In future I will preface all of my posts with " I am guessing" to make it clear I am just passing an opinion and not claiming facts.
