I agree on all this, but not so much Eom one. I agree with Dr Winston on that one. Not saying he won't be a player, but I don't see him as a player bought to replace Eom.

I think we need to move away from the idea of having a "Best XI". That any one outfield player is going to be preferred and start most games ahead of another. It's a squad game these days. Players will rotate, especially if they're going to be running their guts out pressing all game.

Eom will play a role. As will Inoussa, Ronald, Widell etc. One of the biggest gripes in recent seasons has been squad depth and lack of options off the bench. A lot of that has been rectified in this window.

From what I’ve seen of Eom this preseason and the first couple of games he’s bulked up but he is way too selfish, making wrong decisions shooting when he should pass and dallying on the ball. On the other hand the interplay between Inoussa and Tymon played a massive part in a massive goal against Sheff Utd. Inoussa has probably got a lot more to show as well difference is Eom has already had one inconsistent season - he improved under Sheehan of course as did many others but he hasn’t looked the same this time out. He may very well be having a slow start but Inoussa seems to have hit the ground running so he should keep the left wing berth on form imho.

Spot on. Think that's what makes this team much more exciting this season. We will have players who will bring something different, and get teams thinking. I'll stick my neck out and say this striker is still set to sign.

100% and players will also run out of form or get injured. But we should start with our in form players - we’ve seen some inconsistent selections in the past we don’t want that happening again.

I'm really keen to see more of Widell and Inoussa linking up. There were some seriously promising signs last Saturday. Likewise when Ronnie is having one of his off spells Eom's additional guile would be a better choice.

It's great having options.

Fair point but surely it would have to be asked why we missed out on all our options and why we didn't have further options.
Fail to prepare, prepare to fail.

We could easily spend on target no 1 and he could just as easily fail.
I know you love the transfer windows Daps, but it's not as simple as you're making out.

Yes, we could get one of our top targets and turn out to have been completely wrong about their potential in our team. But I'm sure every striker we've gone after has been thoroughly scouted and they're confident they have a good chance of succeeding here. How many options do you think is realistic for us to have? At a certain point, you're going to be reaching and it will be a waste of money. It's not as if there's a huge list of players who fall into the Venn diagram of both being good enough and affordable.

I'd rather sign no-one than sign someone for the sake of it, which is what you seem to be advocating.

We need a goal scoring midfield if we go with our current strikers
Excellent point.

We have an abundance of goals in our new mostly midfield squad. Midfielders is the new new wtg, in many ways.

Culls is a hybrid with a sense and hunger for goals, which is why he gets picked. On the other hand Vips is either a striker or a makeshift CB at a lower level club. Which is why he doesn't get the nod in our system.

Imagine a Lamps-type marauding midfield goal machine in our set-up......😉

Or is it a case of are the options realistic.

You need to have levels, a few in the top level that you go for, another tier and end with a tier that's realistic.....working from the top down.
If we get to the point where we get none of them....we then make do with what we have.
Do I think we are there? No, I think the latest presser is just Sheehan deflecting from answering the question and bringing some praise into the players he currently has at his disposal.

It doesn't have to be a huge list but the list needs to have realistic options somewhere in it. It's not as you say simple but if you make it harder then it's far from simple.
We will get one of our options I am sure but at this stage it might go to the final day/s.

With respect you're missing the point.
Eom is a natural 10, being played out of position.
Eom's versatility, work rate, diligence and intelligence in all aspects is a massive asset.
Comparing him and Inoussa in that wide berth is limiting

I’ll counter that with Widdell being a more dynamic and direct 10. Eom is good but I don’t think he’s better than either though I am happy to be proven wrong.

👍
We're blessed to have so many exciting options - most especially in that creative hole which has been sorely lacking for yonks
