Bradley's already had a moan about it and said the envelope rule needs changing. As Donald pointed out, it was the Yanks who used it first and in a tournament they only won by 1 point.

They do, but his argument is different in that an injury should not result in a halved match. FWIW it’s a dumb rule, but it is the CURRENT rule. Let’s see if the Ryder Cup rules get aligned with Solheim Cup where the other team gets the full point.

Doesn't it make sense that both teams name a sub before the tournament starts, who can be brought in if a doctor certifies that the other guy is not fit to play?

Fair enough.

Not sure I agree the opposing team get the point due to an injury, it hardly seems fair. As a captain I'd rather win the point, cup through merit rather than default.

Maybe taking reserve players is an option.

Doesn't it make sense that both teams name a sub before the tournament starts, who can be brought in if a doctor certifies that the other guy is not fit to play?

That’s one option, but then it does bring in the subject of tactical injuries. That said, this is not a regular occurrence so use of the sub would have been extremely minimal.

I think Solheim Cup version of the rules is the correct one.

It's only been used twice since 1979. they should just leave it in it's current format.
