• Thank you very much | Diolch yn fawr

All at JackArmy.net would like to thank everyone who has played a part on this site over the past 25 years whether that is through writing, contributing, moderating, posting or just visting and reading.

Without any of you the work that has gone into the site would have been pointless and we will always be proud that we built, generated and managed a community that was such a big part of the Swansea City supporting life for so long.

It has been a pleasure to bring to you the site for so long but the time is now right to turn the lights out for the last time but we do it both with a heavy heart and a sense of pride driven by the so many messages received since we announced the closure.

The site will remain here for a period until we archive and mothball it for the last time later this summer but all aspects are in a read only format.

Thank you though for all the memories

They’re early. This year’s campaign launches on Saturday and that’s when the poppy fascists insist you must wear one at all times and if you don’t you clearly hate Britain and our brave boys and girls.

Shouldn’t be long then and we’ll have a story that someone wearing a poppy was refused to be served by an Asian shopkeeper, or some other nonsense.

Then not long after that we’ll be onto banning nativity plays in school season.

Excellent.

Mohammed, Mary, Mohammed and the wee donkey. 😉

One thing I don’t like though is the use of the white poppy on its own. I do think that’s provocative.

The poppy should be what it is for rememberance for fallen heroes.

I struggle to wear one these days sadly because I struggle with the way it’s become totemic for agitators. It doesn’t mean I won’t wear it but it definitely impacts when it never did previously.

I haven’t worn a poppy (of any colour) years for exactly those reasons.

My wife and I buy and wear one every year, we don't keep it on religiously, but we're more than happy to buy one at least for no other reason than to recognise the sacrifices those that served made, we'd be living differently if they hadn't made those sacrifices, assuming that we'd be here of course.

We could be speaking German and drinking German beer if we’d lost.
