Perhaps it's only me that finds this interesting, but our league form this year runs in blocks of three:

First 3 games: Loss, Win, Draw
Next 3 games: Win, Draw, Loss
Next 3 games: Draw, Win, Loss
Next 3 games: Draw, Loss, Win

We've now drawn against Charlton, so clearly we'll have a win and a loss in the next 2 games.

Not sure if it means anything other than it shows we're a very middling, average team right now.

Just don't understand how we have made QPR, Southampton and Leicester look good sides, when clearly they are no more than average at best.

I could be wrong, but I think the answer is that we are a very average side also. We only beat teams at the bottom of the table, with draws or defeats against everyone else.

61 points incoming. 12th or 13th.

I’d take that, as long as we see some attacking patterns developing…or better decisions in the final third. There is zero point in getting the ball wide and crossing it. The wingers just have to start doing a Laudrup. Perhaps someone can teach Sheehan what that looks like.

I’d say that’s partly the nature of the Championship for the majority of teams.

There’s a few teams that go on really good runs and then really bad ones (Preston & Millwall spring to mind) and those that make the playoffs will have a good few ‘3-game-weeks’ where they pick up 7/9 points. Reality is we don’t look capable of doing that currently.

I agree with that. The only mini-run we've had was after losing on the opening day and then taking 8 points from the next 12, which could have been 10 if we had held out against Hull.

The inevitable argument will be if we're not capable of a run of form because of the players or the manager. The manager is usually the loser in that argument in the long run because you can't sack an entire team of players. It's mystifying that this manager was able to produce a sustained run of form just months ago out of what was on paper an inferior group of players.

This.

We're not shite, we're not great. We're ok.
Attack wise we are bad. Bottom of the league for most metrics, Vip won’t be able to bail us out every week. What we are doing just isn’t sustainable unfortunately. We might have the results of a midtable team but performances have been well below that and I think results will soon follow. It’s just an opinion of course but I think we are massively underperforming.

I couldn't disagree more.

Apart from Leicester, the only games we have lost have been by a single goal.

We're usually well in the games, we stay in games, we are competitive, we defend well for the most part.

That is not underperforming.

We're simply a very solid and professional side, but unfortunately one that lacks any stardust.

Not helped by the fact we appear to play with the handbrake on for far too long into games.

That is one way of looking at it.

The other way of looking at it is what might happen if we did commit players forward en masse. I suspect we'd resemble the shambles we were under Williams and Martin.

But you can cut it both ways, I accept that.
