The difference a manager can make.

If I treated myself to a pair of £150 trainers, but they turned out to have a crap insole that felt like walking on rubble, and they gave me blisters every time I wore them.

Would I put them in the bin and reluctantly accept I'd bought a pair of duds, or would I stubbornly keep wearing them and tell everyone I meet "they're crap and I hate them, but I spent £150 on them so they must still be good, right?".
Fair question, but I'm currently wearing a pair of Doc Martens that caused me blisters for about three months after I bought them. Now that's I've worn them in they are superbly comfortable, and I'm really glad I stuck with them. Sometimes you just have to be patient.

You won't change many opinions on here. Some will say we have average squad and average manager and others will say we are better team that what ie being presented. Personally this is the most strongest squad we have had in years. And anyone with even little to no knowledge of tactics in football can see the players are being instructed to play backwards and find the perfect pass or goal. It's been clear for a while this team is far better as a quick and attacking team. You can see it sometimes. But never enough.
When it’s so painfully obvious that all Vipotnik needs are simple balls through the channels to run on to and we persist in playing balls to Eom’s and Ronald who invariably lose the ball - then you have to look at the coach. If Vipotnik had been playing under a coach like Laudrup he’d be on 12 plus by now .

Comparing a struggling manager with a pair of boots isnt helping anyone lol

I don't class Eom, Ronald and Cullen as starters that's just a case of a manager being out of his depth and desperate enough to chuck anybody in to see what works.

I really not sure why you keep mentioning this point about watching them religiously? I think anybody who has a basic grasp of football and has been watching for a while is aware of who the best/better players are for each team especially the ones in our league? That doesn't require seasons on seasons of watching a team to grasp that.

Just Look at Preston fans last night they were all raving about Galbraith and saying how he consistently as been performing like this for us. Did that require them watching all 14 games we have played?
I think Eom, Ronald and Cullen are his blue eyed obedient boys. A dangerous game being so loyal to those who do not perform adequately enough to turn your season around. He has to be ruthless - even trying Eom on the right and binning Ronald might make a difference

Re the OP.

It is difficult to agree with the premise that the ‘fault’ of our season so far lies with Sheehan rather than the players given the second half of last season saw the same manager with different players achieve close to play off form (may have been play off form - I can’t remember).

Either last season’s players (second half only) were better than this lot. Or Sheehan has regressed. Or last year he was lucky. Or the players last year although not better suited him more.

To claim that the players this year are miles better than results if only for a change in manager is speculation at best.

For what it’s worth, I think we have fairly average players with a fairly average manager. A few results will go our way and a few will not and we’ll be mid table. Whether lower or higher mid table will depend on a bit of luck unless something changes.
But he has a different more attack minded coach alongside him at the end of last season.

Now he’s got two former defenders as coaches as was he.

Cullen for me has used all his lives up with him starting. I think we will see Ronald start tomorrow with VP, Yalcouye, and Widell. Maybe Eom gets the knod because of his goal. Franco needs a rest in my view.
