That’s an easy out. Let me put it another way; when we signed Widell, did anyone mutter “oh he’s shit”. The majority were creaming themselves about the signing.
He was that good we had to loan him back in January for fear of missing out on him to bigger clubs.

lol.

In all seriousness, I think Widell may well be a nice player.

We recruited a few nice players.

Unfortunately at the moment nice is all they are. We need someone who’s a game changer and some experience as well.
I said something similar to my son, in that we're a bit soft and passive. We don't have a leader on the pitch and someone who gets things by the scruff of the neck when its demanded. Saying that, this has been the case for a few seasons.

The unpalatable truth is that football fans - not just ours - will put up with pragmatism if it wins matches, like Cooper did.

Pragmatism will always go down like a cup of cold sick if you're not winning. And that is particularly problematic at our club because, rightly or wrongly, we have unrealistic expectations about the mythical "Swansea Way" (which only accounts for about 15% of our entire existence as a football club mind).
I’m unsure on this. Look at Tottenham, in the Champions League places or thereabouts, miles away from where they finished last season and there is unrest among the fanbase because of the way they’ve been playing under Frank. It was the same with Nuno, Jose and Conte. There is an expectation at that club to play a certain way.

I think we’ve been similar over the last 20 or so years, The Swansea Way has kind of become our brand and what we’re associated with. Whether you agree with it is another matter. I wasn’t a fan of Cooper even though we were winning because I saw a club like Brentford playing better football (ironically under Frank) and getting the same results. I was also not convinced that we’d do anything in the Premier League playing the way Cooper did if we got promoted so I couldn’t really enjoy it fully.

I’ve gone lukewarm on The Swansea Way in recent years because I think football has moved into a more pragmatic direction but I would still like to see us playing a bit of football if we can.

How do you consider that we’ve changed style since last season? Don’t mention that 3xCB’s as this is a recent change, but are we really that different to the back end of last year? I don’t see that much of a difference.
we attacked a bit more, so far this season weve set up not to lose , even though in many games if the other side had decent strikers we would be way gown by now, forward wise? is there any need for me to say anything , our data people will tell you how many chances weve dreated, of course there s a difference in only a few games have we shown any sense of being a decent side, that isnt good enough .

You won’t understand it while you continue t9 insist that we have better players this season when we don’t.
Why are you having a dig - where did I address you? If I say something you have a little cry don't you Lisa.

And for what it's worth, this squad is nowhere near as bad as 18th (or wherever the hell we are). It's a lot better than last seasons that's for sure.

Don't reply, I'm not interested in conversing with you as you're a little bit of a narcissist 👍

"We attacked a bit more"... Yes, maybe some subtle differences from back end of last season. But on the whole it looks much the same, with the exception of the win column.

Huh?

You posted you didn’t understand and I said why I thought that was. I wasn’t remotely having a dig.

Kind of the whole point of a forum is for people to respond.

This squad is absolutely not better than last season’s.

Go through the players one by one and tell us all the ones that are better.

Thats your opinion, i think theres a few including some ex footballers feel the same .

Was said on Radio Wales this evening by a few ex pros that his caretaker role to what is being witnessed now is like chalk and cheese.

I think that's pretty obvious.

What's blindingly different then? I asked the same question above and the answer was "we attacked a bit more". Hardly revolutionary and we were hardly like Real Madrid either.

Because we were winning more games last season, people believed we were being more attacking or playing with the handbrake off when actually we were pretty much the same but got a few more goals here and there. The club seemed to have followed that logic too and assumed it would keep going the way it did for that short spell. Now the rot has set in, it will take a huge effort for Sheehan to turn this around as every half they go without creating chances seems to compound and reduce the confidence of the staff and the players.

That's where I am with it. Sheehan deserved the job because of his win rate and points per game, this was a pretty obvious choice. However I think it's a stretch to say that the football of March to May and now is like chalk and cheese. I'd say that they are both like chalk (eating it).
