Don’t think the Newport fans would agree with you!

One disastrous managerial appointment after another !
You obviously didn’t read “When he was with us”
I knew someone would say something re-Newport, and fair doos, you even put in 2 exclamation marks ! !

Huw had been in Welsh football league for a few seasons plus was a goalkeeper of a decent standard in his younger days, he was a football person and not just a fan or someone who couldn't back it up to a certain level with experiences in the sport.

We currently have people with very little knowledge or background in football. It's a damn shame that we have this lack of knowledge, experience and real feel for the game because we have guys in charge now who are willing to be pro active in trying to get things right.

Off topic a bit but just replying to the above posters post.
That was exactly my point. 👍

Think what you like about Huw Jenkins when he was our chairman, but he certainly had the footballing nous when it came to picking managers.
You can bet they’re bottom dollar, the owners search for a new manager will boil down to “Data driven analytics”
Give me “Footballing nous” any day.

Partly true, up to 2012 when he appointed Laudrup. But after that he completely lost his shit, big time.

Also, in the background, we didn't know it at the time but he was running the club so badly that we had to sell Shelvey to Newcastle in January 2016 or we'd have been struggling to keep the lights on. He did a self pity interview at the time like it was something that had been done to him, when it was his fault we started dishing out unsustainable wages to shite free transfers like Ayew and Gomis.

That's before we even get on to how the club was sold, enough said about that.

It's a shame how it ended, but he will know he should never show his face round here again, and rightly so.

Don't forget the blinder he played with bringing David Ngog to the club on deadline day.

Thought Ayew & Gomis were great pick ups on a free. Made £20million on Ayew but he did then re-sign him for the same amount 😂

Some of the money we spent on those last 2 years in the prem Clucas, Baston, Ayew were ridiculously bad decisions which is mad looking back on

That summer window in 2017 was an absolute disaster and caused due to the 40 days of haggling to sell Gylfi.
The Yanks put their eggs into one basket of getting the best price for their star asset and neglected on incomings until the money was in the bank account.

Were they supposed to sell at the first offer received?

Read my post again, I wasn't suggesting that to be the case just more the fact that everything else was put on the back burner to get the sale done.

It was proven to be the wrong thing in the end with us wasting so much on Clucas and Bony in sheer desperation.

You can't spend money if you don't have any to spend in the first place.

When we received the fee had very little to do with the signing made after it. The problem was the person spending the money had run out of ideas due to him believing his own hype.
