• Thank you very much | Diolch yn fawr

All at JackArmy.net would like to thank everyone who has played a part on this site over the past 25 years whether that is through writing, contributing, moderating, posting or just visting and reading.

Without any of you the work that has gone into the site would have been pointless and we will always be proud that we built, generated and managed a community that was such a big part of the Swansea City supporting life for so long.

It has been a pleasure to bring to you the site for so long but the time is now right to turn the lights out for the last time but we do it both with a heavy heart and a sense of pride driven by the so many messages received since we announced the closure.

The site will remain here for a period until we archive and mothball it for the last time later this summer but all aspects are in a read only format.

Thank you though for all the memories

    Phil Sumbler
    Owner, jackarmy.net

Hope he's fighting fit soon - I lived next door to the Seahaven in my 2nd year of Uni; he onec knocked on our door and said I was 'disturbing the peace' for playing my guitar at 2 in the afternoon. Fair enough, I was almost certainly absolutely shit at that point.

I was chatting with Mel back in 1999-2000 season about the time when he got sent off against Leeds in the FA Cup, and he said that ‘Sniffer’ had kicked him and Mel had reacted and caught him with a cracker of a punch and put him down. I think that Mel was targeted that day and the ref was only too happy to send him off.
Get well soon Mel.

Great anecdote but wrong season - he was 62 at the time

I was talking to a youngster about Sniffer last week saying how he had a radar to be in the right place at the right time to sniff out a goal.

I’m sorry I didn’t explain it very well. I was talking to Mel at that time about the Leeds cup match when we played them at Elland Road in 1970. I was there behind the goal opposite their Kop. We lost 2-1. I have a very good memory of that game. We were robbed again.
I also still have the programme.
