• Thank you very much | Diolch yn fawr

All at JackArmy.net would like to thank everyone who has played a part on this site over the past 25 years whether that is through writing, contributing, moderating, posting or just visting and reading.

Without any of you the work that has gone into the site would have been pointless and we will always be proud that we built, generated and managed a community that was such a big part of the Swansea City supporting life for so long.

It has been a pleasure to bring to you the site for so long but the time is now right to turn the lights out for the last time but we do it both with a heavy heart and a sense of pride driven by the so many messages received since we announced the closure.

The site will remain here for a period until we archive and mothball it for the last time later this summer but all aspects are in a read only format.

Thank you though for all the memories

    Phil Sumbler

Piroe desperately wanted out and we had no contractual leverage there. Also, despite his goal record, Piroe is a very specific type of striker that wouldn't fit into all systems.

Vip on the other hand, is a bit more of the prototypical 9, even though he's a bit slow.

If Vip is going to fit Matos' system long term, we need to hold onto him. However, I suspect he's ultimately not the best fit for Matos' style. Once the season is concluded, if we get an offer in the region of £15-18m I would take it in order to improve in other areas. We have to give Idah a chance and we desperately need strengthening elsewhere.

He seems to be fitting the style well enough so far. Averaging better than a goal every other game under Matos, and if we're looking at wingers then his linkup play is improving too.

Piroe is a quality player but I agree. Not sure he'd suit the way we play for example.

As of the time we sold him Rodon had never played in the Premier League
I badly worded what I said, but what I meant was that Rodon has gone on to have more PL experience than Downes and shown that he has what it takes to be a regular starter at the top level whereas Downes has ended up back in the Championship.

Going by what they’ve done since we sold them, Rodon should have been worth more.

It’s a useless point but I felt like making it!

No doubt. He's vastly improved many aspects of his play under Matos. And, I must give the young man credit, he seems mentally tough as well.

I just wonder if Matos will ultimately want someone more suited to the high press, especially if a suitor comes and waves £15m in our face.

I'm not necessarily saying we should sell him, but you know how it is.

We should dig out some of the threads from last season when he was getting pelters from a few on here.

This boy is proof that some fans are too quick to write players off.
The quality was always evident with Vipotnik. He just looked unfit last season (much improved this) and the service was woeful.

Idah isn't the answer, if we sold him for 15-20m then you go shopping for Matos's preferred type of CF

I'll put my told you so hat on 😜. I honestly believed that Vip would come good. Maybe out of blind Unknown, loyalty. But I'm happy he is doing well. I'll put my neck out, I think we'll see Idah doing well this time next year. He clearly thrives on fans love and it was a shame he got injured. I'm just sad, Vip will go in the summer. It's happening so have to get used to it.

At least you’ve got the decency to admit you might have got things wrong.

I’m the same with Jay Fulton, I’ve given that lad some stick over the last few seasons.
To be fair to you. Fulton has given us a lot of reasons to be critical of him. Dare I say, he gave away a ball last night that nearly led to a goal. He has done well recently, but Fulton for me will always be on my, I'm not sure list. Cullen is now my Fulton. Needs to go in my opinion.

100%. Oddly I think Matos wants a player more suited to his style. In many ways Idah fits the bill, but has his lazy moments. If reports are right, sounds like we have been watching a player for the last year who is from North Europe. And is seen as a high wages signing, spread over time ala Inoussa. We nearly pulled a big one in the summer, the Wow signing but never happened. I do wonder based on Gorringe and others 😜, if they can get things over the line and sell people the Swans dream. So far it's not been so successful based on recent transfer reports and managed search.

I believe an offer of £15m would be immediately accepted for any of our players, and rightly so.

Never really looked to give him his opportunity to get his hat trick last night. Went back to pissing about with it at the back , even though they had their warning with the Blackburn goal.
We took our stronger players like Widdell off and Ronald had two opportunities to play him in and failed as he usually does. Vipotnik totally deserved a hat trick last night.

Definitely quite noticeable from the off last season that he had that bit of quality. I think it was clear there was a player in there from the off and he has certainly gone past expectation for me.
He can certainly and is on course for 20 league goals.

The fee we get can be argued but if sold then you can guarantee a replacement starter striker will be sourced, Idah wouldn't automatically take the main no 9 role.
