Or Nathan Dyer. How many penalties did we get in the promotion season due to fouls on Dyer?
All dispatched by Sinclair.
Sinclair and Dyer?

We don’t have a winger who’s a patch on Stuart Roberts let alone players like Sinclair and Dyer.

We’ve had some fabulous wide players over the years to be fair. Routs, Hernandez, Montero, Dan James were all favourites of mine as well as Nathan and Scotty.

But that partnership between Leighton and Jimmy was really something else.

With wingers we often get fixated on whether they can beat a man. Actually you don't need to beat anyone - you just need a half yard and quality in the delivery.
Imagine if we had a right footed Tymon? His delivery is exceptional, and if we had anything even 10% as good on the right we would be scoring more than 39 goals this season.

I honestly think Tymon is our best player at the moment. He’s having a great season.

What about chrissy Coleman & Tommy Hutchinson .

The problem isn't the wingers, it's the way they are coached.

There has been an obession for years for cutting inside and using the fullback to overlap which is OK at times but when the coaches and players are limited it becomes all that they do.

It happens all over the pitch coaches all copy each other and this I believe stems from the way coaches all go through the same process to achieve their "badges" it has drummed out individuallity. Everyone is doing the same course and we get the same out comes (usually the most risk averse tactics).

Back to wingers, coaches love to put a right footer on the left and vice versa, so that they can cut in, this does make sense because if they put an early cross in what have they got to aim at the 1 centre forward who is likely up against 2 CB (not great odds really).

The solution for me is getting rid of the 4-2-3-1 formation.

Do teams really need 2 holding midfielders (I don't believe so) get 2 CF's in the team and it changes everything, makes it easier to lay off the ball, makes life more difficult for the defenders as they have multiple forwards to deal with and gives wingers something to aim for rather than half beating a man and then turning back inside to where there is no space and thus recyling the ball and start all over again.

It’s also the combination on the flanks. Dyer and Rangel working the right hand side with Leon making up the triangle. Pass and move. It’s a simple game when you have the right ingredients.

Sorry, didn’t see this before I commented…

Dyer and Routledge would often get absolutely slated to hell and back on here. Let’s not get too starry eyed now. And the Spanish chap that went to Leeds, he got even worse grief.

No one is starry eyed but if you genuinely think Ronald and Eom are in any way comparable to Dyer, Routs or Hernandez you can’t be helped…
