As I fancy a change and the retirement clock is approaching what are the resources or better still what jobs are available in this area?

Sites like Glassdoor or Indeed can be a good source for job vacancies.
The DVLA and Swansea council offen advertise full and part time jobs on their websites. As is the norm, Google is your best friend. 👍

I'm looking to go three days after the summer, think it'll be three 10hr days only losing 10hrs then plus my overtime which I do very little of these days, don't do on call any more now either, so if I can do three days I will if not I'll go and do my own work, my quals don't runout until 2029, re-took some before Christmas which takes me to 2030/31

Cheers, I can see a job with the DVLA - are they going to employ older people or just tokenly so?

TBF, I'm not best placed to comment on the DVLAs policy on recruitment, but I'd guess it's down to equal opps, how that works in practise, goodness only knows.
Best bet is to try and see what transpires.👍

There’s big advantages in going self employed especially if you’ve got a pension rolling in because you’ll be able to pick and choose what you want to do. The downside is potentially being inundated with work especially if you’re part time and someone who cares and doesn’t like letting people down. My brother in law is a plumber, he’s mental busy and it’s driving his Mrs around the twist.

I have looked at contracting - though pension has taken a hit over the last month. I said I wasn't going to work another Christmas with my company as it does spoil the festive season for everyone else involved in my household such are the demands. I do have a smidgen of envy seeing my son work at home

Get an electric bike, a black balaclava, a black tracksuit and a money bag and you will be untouchable to do whatever you want.
They're using card machines now to deal drugs.. absolute helmets they are, how they haven't been knocked down in night time driving on roads is a mystery
