Absolutely. It's a bizarre view of the game to criticise a young player making his first appearance in a long time for struggling with the formation that was chosen that left him horribly exposed. The improvement in his performance defensively was clear when Ronald came on and he actually had a winger doing his job in front of him. Parker was good going forward all match.
The goal was down to a mistake from him and as others have said, he was clearly gutted about it. But he didn't let it knock him and he improved. Plenty of more senior players have made mistakes leading to goals this season also.
I thought he looked a lot like Key in that he was better going forward than defending. Not surprising if he has previously played on the right wing/right of midfield as I think people have mentioned. He deserves the chance to play more this season, with a formation in place that doesn't leave him exposed. There's no doubt in my mind that Galbraith or Key would have struggled in the first half yesterday in his place. Also Ward looked like a downgrade in the position once he was on the pitch.
